Married At First Sight: Season 8 Thread

Anybody know the background on the baw marrying the blonde who runs the speed dating service? He said he knows her and her friend. Me and Ms 50 were trying to figure out the details last night.

Watching right now love me some Kate. Short and thick.

AJ is one of the most annoying people I've ever seen on any reality show. No idea how his wife finds him attractive. He has weird, negative chin too and that ugly beard line doesn't help.

Couple thoughts after watching the first 3 eps yesterday, I don't know anythign past E3 so some of this may be old and outdated.


-When first hearing of the show I assumed most of the people on their would be uggos for having to resort to this kinda thing, but surprisingly they were not. Just about all 8 of them range from "normal" looking to pretty damn attractive. That was a bit surprising.
-Stephanie just seems like one of those memes of a crazy marriage-obssessed woman. In fact the very first introduction of the show period was her literally saying "I'm desperate" lol. I like stephanie so far, but she definitely seems like the type of female that gets in her mid-30s and then hits the panic button.
-I've flipped on AJ a bit. At first I thought he was simply over the top goofy and it was real turnoff, but it seems so genuine. Not like an act where he's contstantly trying to impress people, I think he's just a naturally charismatic guy that likes being friendly. So I went from mainly disliking him to pulling for him. I do wish he'd tone it down a notch or 2 though.
-Both of the black couples (I only remember Jasmine's name offhand, can't remember the others) seem just about perfect. Jasmine and her guy feel like a real home run. They both seem super quiet but it feels like there's a solid connection there. I hope the dad doesn't frick things up too much. The other couple I like both of them but I'm a little leery of the female calling herself a Queen so much. That kind of person may have unrealistically high standards, but I mean she knows what show she's on so hopefully that mellows out a bit.
-Kate and Luke..where to begin. First of all does luke look like tim tebow to anyone else? I'm not sure waht to think of luke, I get the impression right now that he may be a virgin and potentially a closet gay. He just seems to awkward talking to a female. Kate I like, she's cute as a button and I think really really wants to fall in love. I mean hell her vows were incredible and she'd never even met the guy! I'm very curious why she's doing this show because it seems like she could easily find someone to date IRL. That kiss scene at the reception, oof. Cringeworthy awkward. I don't see this one lasting very long 100% because of luke..he just for whatever reason doesn't seem to connect or hell even LIKE kate. I foresee her doing everything she can to be a doting loving wife and luke just kinda being like 'whatever'.
-I can't get over the non-kissing thing, I've been thinking about it all morning. I simply don't understand. The non-kiss at the reception when the entire room is watching and wanting it, and hell she even leaned in to go for it and he pulled back and was like "we don't have to if you don't want". Even during their big group pictures after the wedding he's like "is a cheek kiss ok?". I can only think of 3 explanations. One is he is unbelievably inexperienced with girls and is simply scared of kissing her. I don't know if I believe this thought because you'd think with him running a dating business it would give him a lot of practice talkign to girls and beign comfortable with them. Two is he is actually gay, but I definitely don't buy this one becuase if he was he wouldn't do the show. Last is that for some reason he is just utterly repulsed and unattracted to kate. He did recognize her from before so they have had some interaction in the past..perhaps he just is realy turned off by her? It can't be her looks so maybe he just hates her guts? But I mean still, even if that WERE the case, you'd think he'd make an exception at your WEDDING RECEPTION and just give her a peck on the lips just once or something. I guess I'm leaning towards option 1, he's jsut very inexperienced and nervous as hell.


This is my first go around with the show...I know they have 7 weeks to decide if they wanna stay or divorce. Is that like the big finale of the season when each couple decides? If they divorce is that basically the end, like "oh well thanks for playing" then they go their separate ways? And if they stay married do they "win" anything, or is that just it?

From what I've seen she seems SUPER reserved. I can imagine a scenario where she's dated guys in the past and they eventually just run out of things to talk about, she definitely doesn't seem like one to initiate and carry conversation. She also kinda reminds of of anne/egg/her? from arrested development.


Fill me in more on the basics of the show format...I've seen thorugh 3 eps that the beginning of the show is the wedding/meeting. I surmise the end of the show is a big sit-down where they decide to stay or leave. The middle part...I assume they move in together? Whose house do they live in? Is there a honeymoon involved?

Is it generally split between stay and divorce or does it lean one way more often? Also is this the normal show format? In episode 1 the announcer made a point a few times to say 4 couples/8 people as if it wasn't hte norm, do they normally do 4 couples?
