I agree with you for the most part. Good Will Hunting is probably the best example I can give. I thought the movie was awesome, but after a while the F word started to wear on me and eventually became annoying.

The movie was set in Boston, what did you expect? Like it or not it's part of the culture. Would you rather them to speak Shakespearean?

Frankly, I think it's pretty pompous and self-righteous of you to look down on others who use the word.

But you should be looked down upon because you're using it wrong. Over use of curse words devalues them.

By the way, this is true. "Bleeping" is retarded.

It depends on the context. Sometimes it's funny/ appropriate sometimes it's not.

When you're trying to recreate a certain culture, using the Good Will Hunting or Superbad, there's a lot of cursing in those groups. If you want to portray them realistically you have to do it.

Sometimes it's done to make a point. Watch the South Park episode "It Hits the Fan" They were allowed to say "shite" on the air and said it 162 times in the episode. The point was that the taboo of certain words is dumb, and you will weaken its effect if you over use it. So in that case it was appropriate.

the original poster is a fricking moron. how can a word affect people so much? n not even a slander. frick, it is a fricking word with a definition like every other word. is the definition that offensive to you, or does the word just hurt u because your mommy told u it was bad when u were a little kid?

Wow, you and OMlandshark are not very educated because you cannot read and comprehend. Or maybe you are trying to be clever by only responding to "part" of what I say.

Either way, it doesn't matter to me.

Yeah, uneducated black people use the word more than most ethnic groups, but stereotypical Italian Americans use it just as much as they do. College age people use it just as much as well. Blaming black people solely for it is retarded. They are part of it, and only a racist would say that black people are the main problem when it comes to cussing.

You have completely proven that you are not educated. Why don't you go back and read my response to the person who blamed "black people."

You, sir, need to read and thoroughly comprehend what is said. I will not copy and paste because I dislike lazy people, too.

I understand and respect you point. I have, however, already stated the exact thing more than once.

Many times, though, within movies and television shows, it is not necessary and seems to just be a filler for the lack of vocabulary.

Why don't you give the less educated (apparently 99% of this board) people on here specific examples?

How about you go frick yourself you smug prick. You are one of those assholes who thinks he is better and smarter than everyone and seek to let everyone know this. And I love how you hide behind the "I am smarter than you since I am more educated than you" shield, even though you have no clue on how educated I am. If everyone does not conform to your standards, then they are uneducated in your book.

The comedian Katt Williams is a perfect example. I caught a few minutes of one of his Comedy Central specials awhile back and since it was before midnight the bleeping was out of control. Made the show unwatchable.

You still can't comprehend what was said about black people, hip hop/rap, and who actually said what.

It is sad that such a thing even makes it on air. Why would I want to hear 75 bleeps within an hour? What is this? Mad libs!?!

I have one worse than the "F" word. Can you believe they say the word "the" literally hundreds of times in an hour? That surely points to a lack of educated vocabulary. Surely, more educated individuals could come up with alternatives for the word "the."

Oh, wait. It's just a fricking word, too. Who cares?
