Tell me I'm wrong.

My impression is that the first half or so is great taking a never before done angle on the origin story.

The rest is a bunch of mindless CGI crap.

Am I wrong?

I want to be.

I'm not into comic books or Superman, I'm not emotionally invested. What I wanted was a cerebral Superman movie for the first one mining out so much great stuff about him coming to grips with who he is and when it comes out who he is how the world reacts. The first one could have been a character piece with the antagonist being a meteor or something where he struggles whether to reveal who he is to save the planet and deal with the planet's reaction.

Then you have Zod and Luther to close out a trilogy in separate movies.

Just my two pennies.

It looks like they started an interesting movie and then made The Avengers.

It was decent. No pizazz like the old one.

No. Am I wrong?

I said this is my impression based on what I have seen and heard.

Gotcha. I think the impression you have is far from my experience. Yes, the pacing was staggered at times, but the exposition they were crafting was wholly enjoyable in terms of the character and the payoff of the action scenes. I thought it was dizzying and fantastic.

I'm gonna load my boy up and go see it.

I'm cynical because I got burned by the last 30 minutes of Star Trek with Spock doing all of that bullshite, lol.

The movie starts poorly making everything seem forced but it ends very well.

I enjoyed that they didn't do a linear narrative.

The Spock stuff ruined that movie for me.

Even if you ignore his timing a jump from one fast moving object to another 300 feet below and not having his legs snapped when he landed, the laws of physics dictate that as he was falling, he lost forward momentum and when he landed on the vehicle below, he would skip right off of the back of it.

I know, a little anal but That last 30 minutes bothered me.

Nope. All that CGI carnage for Supe to end it so easily. Not realistic at all.

And the tons of citizens that died?? WTF happened to Superman being the guardian of mankind?

Ohhh, I thought you were referring to Spocks cheesy recreation of the iconic "KHAN!!!!" moment.

There's a similar moment not recreated in MOS. Which is what I was saying you'd be happy about.

He is the guardian of mankind. He stopped Zod from killing everyone on Earth. That's the guardian of mankind. This film is an attempt to place a fictional character in a very real setting. People die all the time- even Superman can't save everyone and that's one of his most compelling dilemmas.

Spoiler Alert please.

I was gonna go in thinking Zod's goal was the slot behind Rachel Ray on the Food Network.

why is this so hard for people to understand? Did they miss the badass faora line "for every human you save, we will kill a million more?" I think sacrificing "tons" of citizens to save 7 billion is worth the trade off, which was the point.

People who whine about this shite drives me fricking nuts. The guy is from another planet and the future, why is this ok but if the filmmakers don't follow the laws of physics to the t, people get their panties in a bunch. How is it so hard to understand movie-land is make believe, so quit going all albert einstein on this shite.

I liked it, not as good as I thought it was gonna be but very very solid and alot better than Superman Returns.

I thought it was very well acted other than Lois Lane and Zod. But I have to admit they tried to fit too much into one movie and it seemed sort of rushed and poorly edited at times. The action was top notch and the story wasn't bad just my one huge problem was that there was a beginning and an ending, but not much middle and time for character growth beyond Superman. Again, I liked the movie I just thought it was rushed. The last 45 min or so was unbelievable and I have high hopes for the sequel, it should be much better.
