Decent episode.

My favorite storyline? LANE.

There will be a direct correlation between Lane's financial troubles and his sexual kinks. And I, for one, cannot wait to see what he's been paying for.

Makes sense...women's lib now and Weiner turns the tables on Don...now women can sleep-around and Don is the hurt housewife. He's getting generation-passed in all his expectations; California opened him up a little but I expect the show to evolve him more this season otherwise he just turns into Roger.

Yeah, we always knew once she became a teenager, her character was going to be a lightening rod...Weiner set up our expectations for her to have issues.

4. Peggy and Pete are turning out to be the most deep characters.

As the youngest main characters with the most potential for change...they are the ones to carry the show if it lasts for a few more seasons and makes it into the 70's.

Pete has become my favorite character on the show. Besides his accidental humor, I like how driven he is and at the same time how he wants to conform so badly.

I thought the scene at the party when Pete, Peggy, Ken and their dates/wives were all talking was kind of significant.

That was my least favorite from the first episode. Nothing seemed to make sense as far as his motivation and actions were concerned. If he's hard up for money why didn't he clean the wallet out? Why was he pandering to Joan?

Also, the gentleman who came to retrieve the wallet immediately intrigued me because right off the bat I thought "mafia." That is one angle they have never really used on the show (except for the underground casino where Don punches Jimmy), and one that I think could present a lot of dynamic storylines as it relates to both SCDP and character's personal lives. i.e. - Henry's political connections.. Don's whorish women, etc..

Yeah, I guess you're right.

From Season 4 - Matthew Weiner says the show will end in 3 seasons.

Here's hoping they make it to the early 70's. I always assumed it would go to at least Nixon being elected in 68' to go full circle from season 1...and maybe jump to 72' and end on Watergate...capping that era.

I've got a feeling Lane will end up trying to creep on this women.

Also, I thought Lane's wife would see the picture in his wallet and that would have started awhole new shite storm.

No doubt he will contact her again. I miss the Lane that was fed up with his wife and her British attitude and allegiance to the old country. It seems like the entire staff needs a shake up. Not sure in which form that will come though. Previously the catalyst was the merger and subsequent buyout, but they won't repeat that same story.

because Sterling is from a different period of time and is probably feeling some heat from Pete.

I think Roger probably inherited a lot of money from his father. It explains why he acts like a bit of a brat sometimes and has no concept of what real work is.

He's damned near 65 or 70, right? Plus he's been a partner since SC (his father started the business so family money is a given). He has about 30 years on Don and 40 on Pete and Peggy. Lane I don't think has ever held a position that pays a lot of money.

Yeah, Lane basically fell into the position he has now. If you remember, his company was planning on shipping his arse off to India (or somewhere) after selling SC. He was in the right place at the right time and was able to negotiate a partnership in the new firm.

I would say Roger is about 52ish, but a hard 52. He's probably filthy rich and the agency is his connection to a lifestyle that he can't shake.
I doubt Don will get too concerned over the younger characters. He's from a different, less idealistic, generation. When he owned those beatniks hanging out with Midge, made it obvious that he doesn't care much about the causes of the times as long as it results in financial spoils.
Megan is the most interesting new character IMO. She seems to have layers like Draper. He used his looks and charm to get what he wanted. She is him, only more relevant with her youth.
I believe the mafia will come into play this season. The lady shrink had obvious mafia ties and I thought that could be his way out of the Whitman/draper pickle.
Also, I expect Betty to be the other woman. I don't know how but It seems logical. That is my take on the best show on tv!

I wanna see dons advertising genius result in a big client this season. It's crazy that he hasn't pulled a huge client since they started the agency

It's guesstimated on his wiki that he was born in 1912, so about 50-ish. I'm thinking his ex-wife was from money too, so I'm sure that helped keep his bankroll fat on top of Daddy as one of the original founding members of the company.

Let me add Peggy's BF is pretty cool. He know's what's actually going on, but isn't all hippy/rebellious and shite. They're a good pair.
