He didn't. As I recall he got killed in that fight. But apparently he found a green mushroom somewhere so he got another shot at life and a new hairstyle. WTF OMG LOTR

Yeah, and he didn't get killed on purpose like Obi-Wan did.

He killed that dude, was on the verge of death, and comes back even more bad arse and powerful than before. Obi Wan gets knicked by Vader's and melts like the wicked witch of the west, what a puss.

So did Obi-Wan.

He had also previously hacked off all of Vader's limbs and set him on fire. I'm pretty sure he owed Vader a free shot.

Aside from taking down the big demon thing in Fellowship, what does Gandalf do besides ride around on a horse and maybe kill a few orcs for the rest of the series? Worthless character after 1. Obi-Wans ghost had more relevancy to his respective storyline than Gandalf the white did.

When did that happen? All Obi Wan can do is tell Luke to use the force and appear to him when everbody is shitfaced (and probably tripping on some indigenous plant) on Endor.

False. Without Gandalf the white and his leadership/ bad assness then the Fellowship would have failed miserably and we would all be living under the control of Sauron right now.

Yeah, I always thought Obi-Wan kind of overstated things when he told Vader, "You can't win Darth, if you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."

I guess the Jedi are pretty proud of the "ghost" thing they can do.

the only thing I dont like about the LOTR trilogy is that they left out Tom Bombadil, who I think is probably the greatest character in literary history

Once again I have to disagree. I'm pretty sure the Fellowship did fail miserably at it's main priority, which was to destroy the ring. Instead they send Sam and Frodo off to do it themselves and focus on saving Merry and Pippin and stopping the advances of Sauron's forces, without even knowing that Gandalf was still alive.

Also, what is this "Badassness"? The fact that he can ride a horse? Or the fact that he looks like Billy Gibbons in a Klan suit when he becomes "The White"? I keep expecting him to break into "La Grange" at any moment when watching Two Towers and Return.

The dude could touch the ring of power and it wouldn't affect him. Think about that.
That's deep.

Everything about him is awesome. He speaks in rhyme, doesn't care about a damn thing that happens outside of the Old Forest, he controls nature, he is the oldest thing in Middle Earth, probably the most powerful being in Middle Earth, nobody knows where he came from but he is most likely either an avatar of the planet that Middle Earth is on or the "God" in Tolkiens universe.

He saves the day at Helm's Deep. He convinces all the nations of men in Middle Earth to join together in the fight against Saurons forces. If that didn't happen then the forces of good would have been slaughtered and Frodo and Sam never would have made it to Mordor. And he defeated Saruman.
All crucial points in the story line that couldn't have happened without Gandalf

Yeah but Obi-Wan could have just walked up to the gates of Mordor, told the Orcs "These are not the Hobbits you're looking for." Frodo walks up to Mount Doom and tosses the ring in. Story over.

WRONG... It was Frodo's job to destroy the ring. It was the Fellowships job to escort Frodo and Sam.

They let Frodo and Sam go because they had to so they would not be tempted by the ring.

That might work on the Orcs. But Sauron would just bend Obi Wan over and PIIHB if tried that. You can't use a jedi mind trick on a tower.
