Just my contribution to get us there. 108 and lock. Should be good.

I think it's interesting that although MIB had a falling out with his mother, he shared the same opinion with her. Both of them said the same line about how they fight, destroy, and corrupt. You would think that since Jacob was such a mama's boy he would have been the one to believe that.

Anyone happy Ben finally got something good on the island finally?

Yes, Ben was just misunderstood. Ben got partial redemption by pushing Hurley out of the way of the falling tree as the island was near destruction. I always liked Ben's character and Michael Emerson is superb. Ben called it himself in the conversation with Locke in the sideways timeline confessing to Locke that he (Ben) had been jealous because he was not special like Locke.

Dude, Jack saw aaron after he was a baby, when he was the little blonde kid

True. Jack and Kate were raising Aaron after they left the island, but the purgatory they created together is obviously very island centric. Plus as Moss pointed out you have the problem of working with children and bringing together loved ones who died at different times.

I thought it was good drama. You could tell how much he loved her and just wanted to be accepted by and loved by her. Or by anyone for that matter. Dude spent thousands of years(presumably) just trying to get back across the sea to "his people." Tragic. He is such a tragic figure and really parallels Locke in this way. That was the perfect character for the MIB to embody.

Yeah that's my point. He seemed to have a shitty opinion of his people, while Jacob, who seemed to have no desire to get back to them, believed that they could be good.

If it was only Jack's perspective, then why do we see all of the other characters have their own epiphany moments in the alt timeline/purgatory that Jack is not aware of? Shouldn't that not happen?

I don't think it is entirely Jack's perspective. Jack's father said something like it was a place they created together, in other works a collective purgatory. It appears largely Jack-centric because Jack is the lead character and the last to have his awakening so to speak.

Enough fun for tonight. This will be my last contribution towards the quest for 108. Best of luck in bringing Wallace to the island.

STLSU, good luck with that hangover.

It wasn't just Jack's perspective. Kimmel mentioned that to Fox who didn't seem like he bought into that.

Jack's death was just the most significant. It's not like they were going to show an 80 year old Kate ala Titanic.

Yep, I knew that. Should have said: "had been married"

I think he had a shitty opinion of "other people." I don't think he ever got to meet "his people," 'cause they really only existed in his fantasy. They were some ideal that he had to get to, but never could. That's part of the tragedy that he desperately wanted to get to a place and people that didn't exist, so he was destined to fail no matter what.

he was very tragic... a victim of circumstance...

Jacob in his anger threw the guy in a pit and by doing this chained him to the island.

I feel bad for him.. but because i am invested in my characters i want them to succeed rather than MIB.

MIB stood in their way so no matter what the reason was for him being evil, he was evil because he was in their way.

1. Was Whidmore trying to save the world by sinking the island?

I don't think that was made clear. Widmore knew that Desmond's tolerance to EM could be used against the MIB but whether he knew exactly how, I'm not sure.

2. Was the H-bomb unable to explode? Was it exploding the reason that they went back to the original timeline?

My view is that the nuke core did explode and two things happened:
1. The force was absorbed by the electromagnet force associated with the island which somehow warped our heroes back to 2007. (the Incident occurred in 1977).
2. The impact of the two forces colliding might have accounted for the flash-sideways timeline which Juliet seems to confirm that "it worked" after Miles communed with her dead body.
