Him saying that got Jack on board for going back to the Island.
then I must've missed the part where Locke put two and two together
because the last thing I remember was Locke yelling "wait! who's your son??"
I dont remember them ever touching on that again, except for the shoes, but that was more of an eloise hawking thing, I thought

Yeah MIB may have had Jacob's position at one point ("ruler" of the island, more/different powers, etc.) and he abused the power. Then Jacob could have conned him
or....Jacob was a "candidate" at one time, but a rift developed in the process

There is one timeflash in the beginning of the episode that shows the back of the statue. It only takes like a minute.
Okay, just saw it. Good deal. So we know that the conversation between Locke and Christian takes place prior to 1867.

After Locke gets in the car wreck, Jack visits his hospital room. That's where Locke tells Jack about Christian.

I was with you until here, I disagree - I dont think there's any reset button
I think time moves forward as always, the game between jacob and MIB remains, but the game pieces change each time
I'm with you on #1->#3
but...

Because future Locke (who is actually MIB) tells the Locke jumping through time that the only way to save the island is for Locke to die after he convinces everyone to come back.
refresh me - when did this happen??? (like what season/episode - I want to go back and watch this again)
But besides the whole time reset thing, I'm pretty much down with what you got

Not quite right. Locke lost "faith" and wanted to not push the button. Eko was standing in his way. Guess what happened to Eko? Killed by MIB. This was the first step in the plan, IMO.
Smokie didn't kill Eko until after the Hatch exploded though.

It would be great if Sawyer shows up and guns down Cooper at the wedding.
Should we assume that it will be the same "Anthony Cooper"?

Stu, it's Season 5, Follow the Leader

Season Five. It actually happens twice.
The first time is in the beginning of the season. It is the episode where we follow Locke while he jumps through time (OML little help?). Locke is climbing down from Yemi's airplane when he is shot by Ethan (who doesn't know who he is). Ethan is an adult so we know this probably within 10 years of 2005.
The Locke jumps to 2009.
As he is trying to dress the wound, Richard walks up and tells him that he has to get the six that left bring them back. He also tells him that Locke has to die.
Later in Season Five the six get back to the island (Sun, Ben and Flocke are now in 2009). After finding Richard, the group starts moving across the island to go to Jacob. One night they stop and see time-jumping Locke dressing his wound. Flocke tells Richard to tell time-jumping Locke that he has to bring the six back and he has to die.
Then we watch the exact same scene between time-jumping Locke and Richard again.

Okay, I want to take the theory one step further.
I said this was "the 6th or 7th round" of the game. I'm changing that.
This is the 108th round of the game.
For every round, there are candidates. For every candidate, there is a number. The candidate is chosen based on the number and the number is chosen based on the round of the game.
For instance, this 108th round is
4 - Locke
8 - Reyes
15 - Ford
16 - Jarrah
23 - Shepard
42 - Kwon
The previous round, Round 107 could have been:
7 - Z
11 - Y
13 - X
21 - X
24 - V
31 - U
We know that are current set of number (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42) are also the numbers of the Valenzetti Equation.
This isn't incorrect, but because the game "starts over" after every round, the result of this equation changes slightly.
So the Valenzetti Equation is truly a prediction of the end of the "world;" but no one knows that it is actually predicting the end of the round and this "world" has ended 107 times before.

I'm telling you, as great as this show is on first watch, it's ten times better the second time around. You pick up so much more because you know what you are looking for.

Just running with your theory a bit, this could also be a situation where Jacob has always been winning and the world resets every time he wins to keep MIB in captivity and on this 108th time through, this truly will be when MIB gets off and the world does end.
