I hate myself for even asking this question. But Jacob kept saying "you tried to kill me" "as long as I'm alive" etc. When Ben stabbed him, did he not die? I know he appeared to Hurley in the Temple shortly afterwards so he can still be seen and communicate, but I thought he was still "dead". Is that wrong?

Jacob might be a "jerk", but MIB was manipulating the hell out of Richard.

He's getting someone to replace him before MIB escapes.

that was in the past. Jacob is dead in the present, which is why someone has to replace him

The MIB is right about human nature. He deserves to win.

so the very end of the episode was????
a.) a flashback
b.) present day, interjection, but Jacob is dead (being replaced) and MIB is dead (not using locke's body)
c.) who the hell knows?

If he was right about human nature, why is Richard still on Jacob's side after 140 years?
