I would love to see some good movies of some of the European wars from the mid 1500s- the Napoleonic Wars. i don't think any war has truly grasped what it was like to be there.

It's a Nolan film so the fanboys are creaming themselves already. Carson is poking fun at that. Looks like it will be a good flick, but I think Nolan is a bit overrated even though I would say that DK and Inception are both in my top 15 all time.

Memento was brilliant.

There's just so much great material out there. 30 years war, Hundred Years War, Magyar invasions, various Crusades in various places, the Reconquista, the multiple wars involving the Ottomans...I guess either these type of events don't resonate with audiences or they're too difficult to make. Kingdom of Heaven is prob the only large scale Crusader era movie we'll get.

Alexander was a let down for me. I've never even watched it a second time.

I heard the was a Bunker Hill movie coming out with Damon and Affleck.
Last I saw about that project was that the screenplay was being written (this was spring of this year I think). So we are a good year or two out on that one.

After The Conspirator and Parkland, I thought The American Film Company was going to hit on a string of good movies from American history, but they have only done one film since - Against The Sun - and do not show any other films in development on their website.

I'm still waiting for a great American Revolution movie.

I'm sure Hollywood will liberal it up enough to make George Washington and the other founders of the country out to be the bad guys.

Yeah, I'd like more Milford Middle Ages stuff too but what I really meant was the era of the gentleman warriors of the 1600s,etc. Rakes and duels, and wine!

I was reading a great book of the area that I forgot the name and it had so many great stories. There was one dude who helped sack a city. He turned down gold and silver to lay claim to a feather bed. But never did he consider he was 200 miles from home and all the lunacy he went through to get that bed.

1600s would be fascinating, totally agree. I always thought it was an awkward time militarily. You had cannons and gunpowder sharing battlefields with cavalry and pikemen. Between the 30 Years War and the English civil war, there should be ample material for movies.

AT least Hollywood stopped making every war movie be set in Vietnam..G-Damn, for awhile there, that was the only war that existed.

but I must admit I'm getting burnt out on WW2. Would love to see more movies covering other wars and events.

I agree with this, WWII gets a lot of coverage because we have video from it and the US came out the big winner.

Recently I came across Dan Carlin's Hardcore History blog and he's got a 5 part series on WWI that's terrific. Something like 15 hours. Highly recommended for anyone interested at all in WW1:
