Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles, first book The Name of the Wind is excellent. It is the best fantasy I've read not called A Song of Ice and Fire.
I also really enjoyed The Lies of Locke Lamora Scott Lynch. As already posted Malazan Book of the Fallen is good but is a commitment. That shouldn't be a problem though since you enjoyed Wheel of Time.

Totally agree on the Michael Moorcock Elric of Melnibone series.
Also,if you want some incredible writing, with an anti-hero unlike any other, read The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R Donaldson. It's two Trilogies, and I highly recommend them.

I loved the Farseer Trilogy, but I read the Soldier Son Trilogy right after it and really didn't like it at all. I gave it a chance all the way until I was halfway through the last book, and just quit which I don't EVER do.

It must have really turned to shite for you to get that close to the end and throw in the towel

In season 5 now, and that show is freaking amazing.
And no, it didn't really get any worse, but I kept thinking itt would get better, but I really didn't like any of the books at all.

Sword of Truth series is great
I really enjoyed that series. Just felt that the last few books were way too repetitive. I'd read it again though. Goodkind is a very descriptive writer.
