the cure is for mutants being born... jesus if you actually paid attention during the movie you wouldnt have to bitch about these things that were easily explained. the other xmen were killed by professor X (presumably in a seizure-like event)

Where did you get the notion Prof X killed all the other mutants? The mutants were hunted down. Why would adamantium poison? It isn't kryptonite.

Because hard metals tend to poison the human body

They said it, and it's not hard to believe Professor X could have killed all the mutants if he was connected to Cerebro during an attack, but he likely killed just enough to cripple them.

This is confusing to me as well. They talked about the Westchester event, but even if Charles killed every mutant in Westchester, that would be a drop in the bucket compared to the global mutant population. Just the fact that it is reported as "Westchester" tells us that it was extremely localized.

I think that he killed some mutants, possibly the entire town or region. Now, it's also possible that the event gave the government the opportunity to rationalize hunting down the remaining American mutants. This would explain why Canada was a mutant safe-haven.

He killed 7 people in that incident

The doctor engineered food products to wipe out mutants or keep them from being born however you want to say it

But his skeletal structure in already encased in adamantium.

It was a great movie despite the minor holes.

It wasn't always. He didn't have the adamantium skeleton before weapon X. His healing factor allowed him to deal with the poison for a long time. It's slowly been killing him.

Side note: How much did Fireball pay for that sweet sweet product placement?

No way Logan drinks fireball. That had to be Calaban's.

It can affect other things. If we bring some comic lore into it, his healing factor works over time.just to keep the metal bonded to him

I watched it again today.

On the radio, Logan turns it off right before it says "members of the..."

I think Charles had a seizure and killed X-men.

Nut what about the ones who are already developed mutants. The food products must not work on them or else wolverine and the professor would've lost there power from it

The Westchester incident killed more than 600 people, 7 of them X-men. And, Logan wasn't 300-400 years old. In Origins, the movie opened in 1845 (I think). Logan was about 12 then, which would make him have been born around 1833. I put Logan at 195+ in this latest movie.

Yeah I watched a video on him he was born in 1832. But still there's way more than 7 x men and way more fully grown mutants in the world who the products wouldn't work on since it only works on children. I mean the product has only been on the market 20 some odd years. Most mutants would still be alive.

I don't think it killed 600 people. I thought the report said that only 7 people died.

about the westchester incident....

quote:

It’s because, during one of his first seizures, he killed at least seven notable mutants. Speaking with ComingSoon about that story point, co-writer and director James Mangold revealed why the “Westchester Incident” wasn’t included in the film itself:

“I wrote that scene. I wrote it, and at one point, it was even the first scene in the movie…. [But] it also made the movie about that. It was really interesting. It suddenly made the movie about X-Men dying, as opposed to allowing the movie to be a kind of unwinding onion, like allowing you to kind of enter the story and go, “Where is this going?” It was so large and loomed so large, and I felt like it also was still falling into the formula of the movies, with the big opener, that is setting up the mythology first. I thought, “What if we do an opener that leans into character first? Actually underplay those things?” Let them just feel like it’s more like a—what’s that? A normal thing, like it’s happened. And instead of underlining it, yeah. Just let it live in the background of all these characters.”

This.

They weren't just mutants. My assumption is he killed the major X-Men outside of Wolverine - Scott, Jean, Ororo, etc.
