FX has handed out a third-season order for quirky comic book drama Legion. The network on Friday announced its renewal, with two episodes remaining in its sophomore run.

The drama, from FX golden boy Noah Hawley, has been praised by critics for its trippy take on the Marvel source material and ranks as the only active Hawley series on the network's slate.

“Legion has redefined the superhero drama and exceeded all expectations as the intensity and revelation build through the second season,” said FX president of original programming Eric Schrier, who announced the news with counterpart Nick Grad. “We are incredibly proud of Noah Hawley’s achievement and are honored to continue the series as it pushes the boundaries of conventional television storytelling. We are also grateful for the contributions of our executive producers, John Cameron, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg and Jeph Loeb with Marvel Television, as well as our outstanding cast and crew of this groundbreaking show.”

I've debated to just stop watching multiple times this season. It's been overly drawn out and sometimes you wish they would just get to the damn point already.

I think this show is about the trip...not the destination.

IDK if there is a show on TV right now that is as much of an experience as Legion.

I get that at the same time, it's been a very long car ride. It wouldn't hurt to make a pit stop and add some fuel. As long as they've been building this up, I would hope the last couple of episodes will be more lively.

The secondary characters haven't really been pulling their weight this season. Episodes without David seem like they are dragging the plot in the other direction.

The episode with multiverse David was brilliant. Still excited about a Season 3. It's one of the most creative television shows I've ever seen!

Great news! Season 1 was a masterpiece. It was always going to be hard for Season 2 to outdo or even equal Season 1 but Season 2 has had many moments of greatness itself and there are still 2 episodes to go. The thing about this show, there has never been anything like it before and likely won’t be again. I’m going to enjoy the ride as long as it lasts!

This season they often appear to be trying too hard for the sake of nothing more than being different. It takes me a bit out of the story at times.

The problem they're going to run into with future seasons is that David is pretty damned powerful (close to Phoenix-level, depending on writers). Finding something for them to combat (even if it's themselves) is tough.
