What I liked:
Mobile Suit Gundam (0079)
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (movie)
Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS Team
Mobile Fighter G Gundam
Gundam Wing
Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (movie)
The animation in MSG and Char's Counterattack is very dated, and you won't see near the variety of suits that GW introduced.
08th MS Team is told from the soldiers' POV, not ace pilots. It has one of the best stories, second only to GW for me.
If you didn't watch G Gundam as a kid, you missed out. It's a bird of a different feather - super cheesy, dumb melodramatic plot, story isn't really connected to the other shows, but by god, it is some turn-your-brain-off fun. Huge variety of suits, main character is badass, probably a dozen of the best fights across the entire franchise. And if that doesn't win you over, here's a "con" from an internet list

G Gundam was great. I remember it being on Toonami for a short time, but couldn’t remember the name.
I’ve been wanting to buy the Gundam Wing collection on blu-ray somewhere, but it isn’t cheap.

Trowa was the best pilot with the worst Gundam. Even sandrock could go the distance in a fight. Beating heavy arms was just using my strategy against kill bots.

So, Sunrise (a subsidiary of China's Wanda studio) is claiming they won't be Americanizing the movie and will stay faithful to the spirit of the Gundam universe.
Then, they immediately say American cultural attitudes will shape the direction of the movie.

GW had a real plot and actually was extremely well thought out with geopolitical intrigue and stakes and had shades of the American revolution with Colonials feeling shafted.
You could do so much with this property, but it will be shite.

The whole reason this is getting made is because both Pacific Rim movies feasted on the Chinese box office.
I expect it to be bad, but the production news will have to be really terrible for me to not give it a chance. I have too much nostalgia for the original properties.
