Just found it on Paramount
Really enjoying it. Never heard the story before. Pretty incredible
Any word on focus for S2 or if there is one?

I really enjoyed it. No idea about Season 2. Haven't heard anything. I'm betting if they do another season it would be about a different person this time, as another chapter in the "Lawmen" series.

His story was one season only. I do believe I read they are doing more seasons but they will each focus on a different historical figure.

Far from fiction …. Were the stories embellished a bit to make it a TV series? Sure, but there was exhaustive research of his life and career to make that show.

Wiki says he is estimated to have made 3-4k arrests and ONLY KILLED 20 men.
No idea if that's true, but if it's anything close it is incredible

Season 2 still hasn’t been announced, either way don’t get attached to Bass because they said awhile back it would be about someone else from that time period if it does come back.

Bass Reeves was real. There's a lot flying under the radar. For example, I never heard of the Tulsa Race Massacre until the Watchmen TV series. For another, I was listening to classical radio on Apple Music, and I wondered, "What's that Dvorak piece?" I looked it up, and it wasn't Dvorak. It was written by a composer named Florence Price, an African-American woman who lived from 1887-1953. Turns out she wrote quite a bit of perfectly charming music, from symphonies to chamber music. There's probably a great story to tell about her.

Another interesting tidbit is Sheridan insisted that they film near his ranch in Dallas instead of taking it to a more scenic destination. Then they decided to shoot it super tight.

I heard about it before then but really looked into it after seeing Watchmen.
It was a huge WTF America moment. I’m not “woke” or in any way believing that the father’s sins should be revisited on the son but it should be something taught about more.
This last year I learned about the Boston Molasses flood and the Cleveland Balloon incident. Not that those are on the same level.
ETA: from all accounts, Bass Reeves was a genuine badass dude. Everybody from that era has a bit of embellishment, but if half of his wiki is true, it’s still amazing.
