KISS biopic Shout It Out Loud deal with Netflix

So, I heard about this on the radio today. The DJ first said it was a biopic, then she said it was a "doc" with Netflix. Obviously two very different things.
Which is it? Also said that Gene and Paul Stanley are heavily involved.
If it's a try biopic, I figure it will be very similar to the Motly Crue Netflix movie.. Which I had honestly forgotten even existed until now, it was that meh.

Most made for tv music biopics are meh, at best. But I still end up watching the damn things.

Meh, never really got into KISS. Music was mediocre and they’re mostly a fraud...old-school click bait. And Gene Simmons is an incredible douche.

They’ll make and market anything for money. Anything they can put a kiss logo on and make a buck, Gene will do.

I'm excited about the biopic, but I'm worried it'll suffer from the same kind of issues that plague all other biopics: It'll go into great detail about the first 4-5 years of the band including its formation and breakthrough - which is great - but because of runtime they'll have to skip the remaining 40+ years of their career.
As someone above mentioned, I expect this to be like the Motley Crue biopic which was just okay.

KISS - The most money-hungry band ever. Not that it is bad to be that way, but these guys (especially Simmons) are about profit - more about branding and image to sell products than music really. I mean, these guys are not hard-hitting musicians - they are entertainers. Amazing entertainers actually.

Man, KISS is getting some hate in here. I don't think they are some great and talented musicians. It's not like they are technically great like maybe Rush or something similar. But KISS has made some pretty damn good/fun music over the course of a decades-long career.
As for this, if it's anything like the Motley Crue one, then I'll watch it with super low expectations...that one wasn't too great. Entertaining enough, I guess. But I'd much prefer a documentary.

The Motley Crue biopic that Netflix did was entertaining as hell. It was a terrible movie, not any good at all, but oddly super entertaining. I hope this movie is in the vein of that one, although I don’t think it will be, because that one was taken from excerpts from the book

If they are really that involved I don't expect the portrayals of Ace and Peter to be particularly flattering.

It was actually their manager Bill Aucoin that started all the merchandising not Gene or Paul.

I know, really. If you grew up in the mid 70’s KISS was the band. They had a great discography: KISS, Hotter Than Hell, Dressed To Kill, Destroyer, Rock And Roll Over, Love Gun, Dynasty, Creatures Of The Night. Hell, they’re not in my favorite 50 or so bands but they had some great, catchy rock and roll songs.
