People have wondered for years why this acclaimed novel has never been made into a film. Especially since superhero films have taken over Hollywood in an even bigger manner than they had in 2000 when the book was published.

The best parts of the novel are unfilmmable.

The actual storyline is pretty melodramatic.

I actually want this one to remain in my mind. I might see it/might not. But if done well it might be too much to resist.

Great book. Not sure it translates to the big screen though. We'll see.

There's no such thing as "unfilmanle" anymore.

I thought the best passages in the novel were the histories of comic books, the minutae of lockpicking, and those that demonstrated the genesis of art and the creative process.

The can do a montage of Golden Age comics flying off a newsstand, but they can't name drop artists with a literary description of what made their particular art stand out.

They can show Joe Kavalier grimacing at an easel, but they can't show the inner turmoil he is trying to express through art.

Michael Chabon's writing doesn't really translate to the screen, especially his weird fixation on overly descriptive anal sex scenes among gender and sexual minorities.

I did find that to be a big WTF in the book.

I thought The Wonder Boys was great.

I was just talking about this book and how much I would’ve loved to have seen it on the big screen. Hopefully it’s choice, and they get the casting right. Was one of my favorite books when it came out.

Wonder Boys is nearly a perfect movie for me, and remains one of my all time favorites. I watch it once a year in the winter.

I'd rather see some movies based on the Escapist and Luna Moth.
