GoTG is too hot of a movie to kill her off this soon. She’ll some how come back in time for GoTG3.

I originally had her in the "really dead" column, but after more time, I don't think so.

Remember, she was killed to summon the soul stone, which has an ex machina feel to it. Plus we saw her in that orangey world talking to Thanos right after tSnap, which makes me think she's *in* the stone?

RDJ I see....but Evans seems to live for the role. I can see him getting killed off but not because he wants off the ship

Evans has been talking about leaving the role for years. He's been pretty vocal about wanting to slow down and take smaller parts in smaller movies and do some directing. As he has said "you want to get off the train before they push you off."

His deal was for 6 films though he extended it to 7 when they decided to split Infinity War into two movies. IW2 will be his 7th Marvel film and unless they just back up a Brinks truck and start dumping money out on his front lawn almost certainly his last.

And more power to him. He's got more money then some small countries. He's in his late 30s with plenty of time to slow down and enjoy the fruits of his labor. I don't think he hates the role, he seems to love playing Cap... but he wants to go out on top and not hang onto the role too long.

Fair enough.

I knew he was meh early on but I thought I read in the past few years he really warmed to it.

No man, that’s it. Dead is dead. Thanos won and the series is done.

Taking out half the population doesn't make as much sense as it sounds on its face. There are still huge expanses of Earth that are barely explored and habitable. We throw away and waste huge quantities of resources that could feed and equip billions more. Not mentioning all of the rest of the galaxy we haven't touched. So I don't really believe that overpopulation is the threat that Thanos believes it is.

Killmonger is the most principaled villan I have ever seen. In fact I think he was right and was rooting for him to win. Revenge for his father, recapturing his birthright/name and trying to elevate/protect his race. All those are nobel goals..

1) your feelings don’t really play a part. There literally isn’t enough resources for the entire world right now to enjoy the same things we have. It’s a concern how the strain will be weathered as China and India attempt to transition to consumer economies.

But that aside:

2) it isn’t a complex thought. Everything you describe only postpones the collapse. Finite resources are finite. And maybe that’s the point: to kick civilizations down every so often to give an opportunity for technology to make economies more efficient

If he can snap his fingers and kill off half the universe than why can’t he just snap his fingers and double the resources?

Where would you put them? How long would they last?

Actually a good point. He has the power of God. Why destroy half of creation when presumably he double or quadruple resources. I guess it’s simpler to erase half of everything.

Killmonger was a forgettable villain with no redeeming qualities. No sense of humor, no noble purpose, nothing interesting. Ok, so he wanted to reclaim his birthright. Which he did. His next step was to simply destroy everything around him He had an unending, childlike rage.

My guess is that before he got the stones, the only way he could solve the problem was through genocide. Can’t teach an old dog new tricks kind of deal.

He got revenge as well and wanted to dispose of a heartless monarchy that laped in luxury, while the rest of the continent suffered. Wakanda could have easily elevated and defended all of Africa from foreign incursions and the rape of their resources. The fact that the royal family hide their wealth and power, so they can live like Gods is just wrong. I get its a movie, but if it was real think of how selfish and cowardly that was. Killmonger wanted to rule and protect/unite a huge portion of the world. That is true ambition and was once a universal goal. He would have been great and revered for a long time..

Because without some limitations forcing them to improve with conservation, you begin to enable wastefulness and you make the snaps have to be more and more frequent. While the populations become more indulgent. And you saw the damage just the one snap did to the glove.

Let’s say a planet has 10 years of resources at a given population. I snap my fingers and double them. The planet now has less than 20 years of resources due to exponential growth. I’m going to use “one years” worth this year, 1.15 “years worth” the next, and so on.

But if I half the population, the consumption rate is reduced and the number applied to the growth rate as well. With the additional time allowing for to develop technology you can expect it to last longer than 20 years. Even if the growth rate is such that it is still less than 20 years, you would expect a longer time interval allowed here than trying to sustain more organisms for longer.

Another way to think about it is the Black Death. Had it not occurred, you probably could add another billion mouths or so to feed. But instead, it set back population growth by more than 150 years.

A far more profound impact than just doubling resources.

Also, it makes for a better movie.

Here's another option: assuming he's all powerful, just make half the population sterile.
