I feel like they could have cut out a lot of stuff during the first 40 minutes, but I liked it from then on. Just took a while to get going for me

If you want a movie with non stop action and no character development.. Watch something Micheal Bay has made.

Looks like I need to end this words with friends game with you, create a new app called words with enemies, invite you to play, never make a move, then suddenly show up to your house and take a shite in your mouth.

those who bash this film, what films have you seen the last few years that you enjoyed over this?

And also I thought this movie had one of the best opening scenes I've ever seen.

If you want a movie with a pathetic plot, no character development, faux-intellectualism, and gimmicky music watch Drive.

I'm not even into the type of music that is played in the movie, but I thought it was great and fit the movie perfectly.

The soundtrack is one of the best ones in the last decade.

Watch Irréversible before you watch Drive or at least watch both before trashing Drive.

Cranston and Brooks give great performances. Gosling is misunderstood in the movie. I like his approach.

Hendricks was a miscast.

Exactly.

No expectations = you give it a 8-10

Go into TDKR with expectations for best movie of all time = you giving it a 5.

Even though TDKR is clearly a much better movie, and I'm using "you" in the general sense, not TH03.

This actually describes the movie and it's fan base to a T.

Really enjoyed the movie--it's style, soundtrack, direction/acting.

If you haven't seen an existential crime thriller like 1980's Thief, then you're probably wondering WTF is going on?

Drive was awesome. The story was lacking, but the style and acting were all top notch, much like the beloved Artist from last year.

So style and a good soundtrack is what most of the people in this thread want?

I've got a movie for ya.

No, it's not all we want, but it can make-up for a less than stellar story.

I've defended Drive for awhile, but that post makes a ton of sense to me. I had no anticipation for the movie at all. I was in DC visiting my brother, we went to best buy, he saw it, said good movie lets watch it. I fell in love with it because of its simplicity. I can definitely imagine being let down by it if I had been waiting and waiting for it and after watching it I was still waiting for more.

For me, it served its purpose. Very entertaining, almost effortless to get into it, and a fabulous soundtrack. I'm so glad I didn't get overhyped before I saw it because it might have been different.
