It doesn't make sense to try and squeeze this in while also doing Saul, unless the movie and Gene crossover into each other in some way.

I think at the next season finale of better call saul, itll set up things for the film. Maybe even comes back to Albuquerque and tries to practice law again. IF..if somehow there is no hard evidence truly linking him. Only people who knew of his involvement are dead or silent for self preservation. Like Mike said in the first season to Jimmy about the kettlemans..and what Walter and Jesse are proving..no one wants to leave home.

I agree. I'm wondering if Lalo is going to be the big bad in the movie also.

We will learn more about him in the Jimmy timeline, but it's safe to assume he was still alive after BB.

He may come for revenge for what happened to the cartel.

I’d watch a show about post-escape Jessie, especially with these story tellers. Jessie’s complex tragic life is quite compelling.

From his own childhood inner demons, to his drug abuse struggles, his tremendous losses of love to malevolence and tragedy, his exceptional skill as a meth maker (being one of his few realized talents), his low self esteem, his experience of repeated torture and PTSD, his unlikely survival and rescue by the hand of his nemesis and mentor, and his need for redemption as well as his need to remain incognito.

So much material to work with, but also so much to frick up if done by some hack.

Fortunately, Vince Gilligan is no hack.

I think Gus takes him out this next season, seems too loud and nosey of a guy to not annoy Gus and Mike.

Plus he told tio that the salamanca name will die with him. He seemed to know the family too well and was confident when telling him that.

So I dont know, he may have just disappeared because of nacho..thus saul saying what he says in his debut episode when in the desert.

Okaaaayyy...looks like Better Call Saul is next in priority on the binge list for my wife and I. She loved BB as well. I’ve been trying to get her revved up to watch Justified, but something about it just isn’t appealing to her.

She’s seen bits and pieces from a weekend here and there on weekends, but really doesn’t know the whole mythos of Harlan County and Rayland’s roots. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’m not terribly descriptive about it with her.

I like the long analysis of BB vs GoT themes of madness and evil on the preceding page. I agree and disagree with certain things. I would love to have a discussion like this with someone but I just flat out mostly do not have time.

Thank you all for the contributions in this forum for all the entertaining threads. This is the best web site on the planet.

Better Call Saul takes place in the Breaking Bad universe, but it is very different in style and pace. I know a lot of people who gave up on it, but I'm glad I didn't.

You forgot his ability to go to the cops. Like Gus said...”what kind of man goes to the DEA...no man at all”.

Spoiler:

It’s very good show but it’s difficult to watch Jimmy/Saul sometimes especially when it comes to Kim Wexler. Here’s a woman who sticks with him, in his corner the day she met him. Smart, easy going, and caring. She’s willing to go out of her way to protect him emotionally(the opposite of Skyler). But he never learns. And it’s sad because you know she gets out of the picture eventually.

Can anyone confirm the release date of the next Better Call Saul season?

I heard it was pushed all the way back to February 2020, but I find that hard to believe.

I think that's accurate. It got pushed way back because they filmed that movie. That's why I believe the movie ties into Saul at some point.

That's too bad.

That's how fans lose interest.

I think their hardcore fanbase is large enough that they are not worried about it.

It's actually refreshing in a way. It sucks to wait, but they are going to tell the story they want to tell and not worry about anything else.

It's easier for me to binge now that I bought a smart TV. Have one season of The Wire left to watch. Haven't watched it since I finished season four Sunday night.
Watched three seasons the first three days, then slowed down after I saw I only had two more left to watch.

All we know is Aaron Paul reprise his role as Jesse Pinkman after the events of Breaking Bad. Filming started in New Mexico back in February. It will be released on Netflix first, then will air later on AMC.

Interesting timing on this thread and some of the posts.

24 hours after your post Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston both tweeted a picture at the exact same time of a pair of mules in the desert with the caption "Soon". Cranston tweet Paul tweet

Rumors are that a movie was filmed from November 2018 to February 2019 and will be released on Netflix. LINK

I haven't heard a peep before just now so am naturally skeptical, but between several posters here alluding to a movie and then the tweets sent out afterwards it gets my hopes up.

Also, Netflix inked a deal LINK last October buying a studio in ABQ and committing a billion dollars over 10 years in production, so the logistics add up.

Not the tour de force release I was expecting.

I just think it's pointless. Saul is a character that can support a spinoff TV show. This is just a strained continuation of a story that ended perfectly and completely.

Yeah, I'm sure they could have old enemies emerge and force Jesse to make meth or try to kill him or Walt's family over old issues, but why, other than to make more money?

If Jesse Pinkman is the protagonist, I'm not watching. That character was something I had to tolerate to finish the season, but never something that I enjoyed. Just wildly over-acted. Cringe after cringe after cringe.
