Podcasts will hook you with snippets on TikTok or Facebook, then you try out the podcast and it's fifteen minutes of lead-in about what some guy in the studio is wearing.

lol that's so broad. there are thousands and thousands of different styles and types of podcasts. that's like saying "i've tried getting into watching tv but i just cant do it"

There are a few I like to listen to from time to time. Mainly crime stuff. But I can't get into people just sitting around talking about virtually nothing. Zero appeal to me.
I don't know why but it has pissed me off that Netflix and other streamers now have them. Literally just video of them sitting around talking about nothing. I can't imagine watching that.
But it's obviously just cheap production for them. Same as ESPN now just having shows that are just taped podcasts.

Not really. I've tried a variety of them (Rogan included). I just end up zoning out after awhile. I'll occasionally put on Audio From The Met (The Metropolitan Museum of Art) when I'm doing my eye compresses at night since they're usually just 5-10 minute snippets.
For what it's worth, I couldn't get into talk radio either. And I'm not a big fan of audiobooks, much prefer to read in print. So it's probably a processing thing for me.
ETA: I also don't like talk shows. The Graham Norton show is about the only one I'll watch. And hated when I was forced to watch them growing up.

I did see it, thought it was a lazy effort, and was surprised he won.
That's not the point though. If Rogan had no chance to win best podcast b/c "woke DEI" we wouldn't have just seen Gervais win his 5th Golden Globe overall and 2nd for best comedy special.

I like RG, but he's not close to being the best stand up. He's funny for what he does, but nothing like a Chappelle (i find his older stuff funnier), Segura (Fat Segura was funnier), Patton Oswalt (Yeah, i know he's a big lefty, but his standup is hilarious), Louis C.K., Brian Regan, etc...
Giving out a golden globe to a comedian is a glamour award. Here's an award to a comedian that we've heard of, even though we don't watch stand up.

Meh. I only download episodes with people i find interesting or would like to hear a longer form of them. Joey Diaz is always funny, but his earlier episodes on Rogan were the best because we didn't know who Coco was, and so we were hearing those stories for the first time.

Don’t know. Gervais has somehow managed to thread the needle and isn’t on the hate list from the left like Rogan is. I’m not saying he’s not hated, but I wouldn’t say it’s universal.

I think he's avoided it because
a) He very vocally has stated his disdain for hollywood.
b) he's done this all by saying repeatedly, "it's just jokes"
c) He hasn't touched any of the sacred liberal mantra's, or at least none that i know of.
