I watched a couple of Joan Blondell movies recently. She's a very underrated actress. Both movies relatively short, but make for an entertaining hour.

Miss Pinkerton is available on Prime, and Good Girls is on youtube.com

---no, the Hays Code was Hollywood's self-censorship program that started in 1934. That's why there's more skin and innuendo in Hollywood movies before 1935

Before the Hays Code, Hollywood was not subject to extensive censorship. The Hays Code censored and banned a wide variety of subjects. This included depictions of nudity, scenes of passion, lustful kissing, mentions of venereal diseases, profanity, crime portrayed positively, disrespect toward religion or the law, sexual perversion (code for homosexuality), and miscegenation (interracial relationships)—among other subjects.

Kisses of more than three seconds were proscribed. No hint of pre-martial sex was allowed. Couples had to sleep in separate twin beds.

She had a great arse in those days. Make Me a Star is my favorite of her pre-codes. It starts out goofy but finishes strong.
