I didn't think it was boring, but I don't really see the greatness in it either. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.

This.

There are some memorable moments. Kelly Preston is beyond sexy in it. But I don't see it as a memorable movie on the whole. That opinion has grown stronger as I've gotten older. I thought it was better when I was younger.

Say what you will about them, but no one can deny you can get some hot bitches when you’re in a cult. Chicks dig cults

It's a you have to have a girlfriend or a wife movie.

No car chases, helicopters don't explode for no reason and Steven Seagal doesn't Aikido anyone into a birthday cake with a big tittied blonde.

Its Cameron Crowe.

He generally tries to make movies for people who have lives...and struggle with the aspects of money-making and love.

Jerry Maguire and As Good as it Gets are two rom coms that are told from the male point of view.

FIFY

Yes, I agree, but I still think of it as a chick flick.

mean that’s a Clark Kent level disguise it’s a straight up rom com with a setting that’s in sports.

Exactly. You could probably change up the occupations pretty easily without disturbing the storyline.

So many otherwise great movies that I used to love back then suffer from this when I watch them now.

Shite, Renee is even a surrogate for the bond between Jerry and the boy.

Its not a chick flick until the sloppy haphazard ending.

Its about dudes...in a weird chick flick way. Which makes the movie kinda in no man's land.

Well when you put it like that. Yeah that is weird.
It’s a...dude flick.

Jerry McGuire is awesome. I’ve always liked that movie for whatever reason. It’s Tom Cruise at his Tom Cruisiest, and he should’ve won an Oscar for it most likely.

Sure, it definitely has romcom type shite in it, but so what? It has enough sports shite and enough “guy” moments that it’s enjoyable and pretty funny actually. But all in all it’s pretty great IMO.

Shoplifting the pootie.

Jerry Boom Boom Maguire was a Stupendous movie! The casting & chemistry was superb, with outstanding individual acting/actors. The writing, editing, dialogue in dozens of scenes/scenarios was marvelous.

It was fabulously produced, directed with all aspects/elements culminated together to manufacture a really great, successful movie......for it's time, place, theme, plot! They pulled it off & it worked!

It is not & never was intended to be some timeless, Epic "Lawrence of Arabia"!

I agree with some of the comments about Cuba Gooding's "weird" acting nature. His "appearance" on film tends to smack of a "cartoon/animated" type character. He can unintentionally "ham a role up", even serious ones! His face/body somehow gets "enlarged" on film so as to dominate or "fill the frame"!? He is difficult to "cast", but was ingeniously & perfectly selected for his role in Jerry Boom Boom!
