Haha. I was surprised he missed that one it seemed like a pretty straight forward question.

I like how they have that screen up between the contestants for Final Jep. Like Watson can take a peek at the others answers.

I didn't notice
. Seems pretty pointless if so.

The IBMers in the audience are splooging themselves with applause every time they get the chance.
When they talk about the advancement of Watson and it's potential, it scares the shite out of me and I now believe that computers will take over by December 21, 2012, but this particular episode today is showing me that computers are smarter than humans.....well no shite.

Not taking over the world, but I honestly believe this is the introduction of robots with the capability of thinking to the US public. That is, if the US public comprehends what they're unveiling here. I figure the Jeopardy audience has a decent idea as to what's going on and what is inevitably going to end up in our workplace and living room.
We're a long way off, IMO. But I think this is IBM's way of showing off what is coming.

So, basically we're looking at Cylons in a few years?

Oh I agree. I was exaggerating.
The piece when they were talking about Watson's technology and the limitless possibilities, especially in the medical world, gave me chills. This technology could very well provide the human race with answers we've been looking for, for centuries.
TOO BAD the Americans will frick this up and use the robots for sexual favors, drug use, and anything anti-government like we have the internet. fricking Americans. I love us, but DAMN no wonder the Chinese is where they are.

Coming on in an hour for me. They did double jeopardy/final jeopardy today right?
Also for someone earlier, Watson cant see or hear anything. So when brad answered 1920s, Watson had no idea that answer had already been used.

America may suck, but it's 10x times as good as anywhere else.

The thing about computers is they only know what we put in them. We are safe until the cylons somehow break free and start learning.

Um.... frickIN-A RIGHT!
I was just referencing where China is technologically and that certain stupid people hinder us from overachieving. This is the best country in the freakin' world! Ya dig!

If you'll read the posts again I was saying how the internet has assisted in drug use so one would think the robots will also in someway.
Use your imagination. I'm sure even an Ole Mrs fan could come up with SOME scenario.

This is bullshite. It's obvious that Ken and Brad know a lot of these answers. They just can't beat the machine's buzzer.
All this proves is that a computer can buzz in faster than humans.

I'm closer to this.
In the game aspect only though.

I watched yesterday and today. It was a giant waste of time.
Like the other poster said, it was obvious Ken and Brad knew the answers but the computer buzzed in at light speed.
Ken was visibly pissed
