Honestly, there are few movies that have had the cultural impact Jaws did in my lifetime. The year it came out my brother and I were at Lake Worth beach near the pier and a manatee came swimming past. As soon as the shape was seen in the water everyone but us piled up in the sand like the scene in the movie. We were standing in the waves wondering why everyone was running from a manatee. Sheer panic.

It's the best he ever directed, by far.

as a child I hated even closing my eyes while swimming after I’d watch jaws in the summer because I’d picture the initial raft scene of the little boy just playing in the water.

It was shown on network TV around 1978, when I was 4. Somehow, my dad let me watch it. The next morning my dad asked me what was my favorite part. I told him, “When the shark ate the little boy on the raft.”

This is the one film that you can say is the GOAT, and nobody can argue.

Just imagine if they had some divers under the water who would swim around and touch peoples’ feet from time to time

Dang, that clip brought back memories. The movie was mesmerizing and scared the crap out of this 9th grader when it came out. Freaking loved it.

Don't. Jaws, like Alien, is better watched by yourself, in the dark, after everyone else has gone to bed.

Maybe because everyone was watching the movie...again and again.

This was the first blockbuster.

One of the greatest movies ever. One of my favorite, as well. If I see it on TV I’m watching, despite watching it a hundred times.

They should have stopped after Jaws II, though. Not gonna lie, even with Jaws II I was a little bothered by the fact that I had watched Jaws get blown up yet he somehow he came back.

Ya' all know me...know how I earn a living...

GOAT movie.

Movie started a Speilberg tradition of never being on set for last day filming a movie...

He said he thought the crew was going to throw him in the water so he didn't show up on the last day shooting Jaws.

I’ve seen it so many times, I can quote the entire movie.
Drives my family nuts.

Yeah Kubrick was another guy I thought of, and could even include The Shining in his top 5.

The only other one I could think of was Scorsese, but his top 5 is maybe a little tougher to sort out. Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, Gangs of New York, Departed?

Some might prefer to sub in a Taxi Driver, Color of Money, Cape Fear, or , a personal favorite of mine, Hugo to add some diversity to his list.

I still think I take Spielberg’s Top 5 over either of those though. Wide range of the genres that he takes on at such a high level really separates him imo.

Scorsese was also the other one I thought of, I’d go
Goodfellas
The King of Comedy
Raging Bull
The Color of Money
Taxi Driver

If it was top 4 would be Coppola by mile
The Godfather
Godfather II
Apocalypse Now
The Conversation
Would be hard pressed to find a bigger drop in quality from his 4th to his 5th best movie (GF III I guess?)
