I only watched the first episode. Way too dark for my current headspace, but it seemed to be well-made.

Yes but just know that it is not prestige level TV 
It’s completely insane plot wise at times, especially in the final episodes of the season, but in a fun way. I think of it kind of like 24 where it’s just way over the top at times but you’re not supposed to think that hard on the specifics

yes and no. I loved parts of it but a few of the actors are horrible/poorly written. The mom character is horrible.
With that said, i am sucker for violent prison shows and this show is very violent prison show.

I liked the premise of the show. And I won't give any spoilers but like someone else said, it's a show that you can't over analyze or you won't enjoy it. All in all, I'd say give it a watch. There's a lot worse on TV I promise you.

if you just watch it without expecting to understand whats going on beyond 15 minutes at a time, then yes its entertaining
its about the system being crooked from top to bottom and the good guys are worse and more crooked then the mob
