Not quite but with his tone and delivery, it definitely wouldn't be as good a movie without him holding the plot points together.

My two favorite parts:
#1. The DMB “crash into me” scene adds a sentimental touch to a silly movie.
#2. When Joe gets kidnapped and put in the well, the guy sends down an AutoTrader and Joe immediately forgets he’s in a well and just starts talking cars.
