Horrible and irritating use of the language.

Depends upon whether you're watching the original cut or watching it in syndication. Two different things.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the difference? Do they cut scenes from the original for syndication?

yes they do. many of the syndicated episodes are edited greatly from original airings

Lines, shots, and sometimes entire scenes are cut for syndication (in order to sell more commercial time)

The worst I ever saw was when The Hallmark Channel reran the old western Rawhide. 50 minute episodes were chopped down to 40. That's one fifth of the show folks -- butchering worthy of the Kansas City stockyards. Lines would be cut off before finishing. Sometimes fight scenes would "start" already in progress, and "end" before somebody was knocked out.

Also Nick At Nite pioneered the practice of further cutting material in order to show MTV-style promos -- a now-standard practice.

I watch reruns occasionally bc it falls in with my 90s nostalgia. But it's not really that funny. Chandler can be funny, Joey sometimes, and Rachel I like to look at. But that leaves half the cast that I don't care about that much.

Never really noticed. It was a decent show.

I hate how every scene has to end with a lame joke.

It was a standard rule of the classical sitcom form that you ended a scene with a joke, unless you were going for dramatic emotional impact.

Now as for the newer quirky dramedy form like The Office or Arrested Development I wouldn't know, as I don't watch that

Seinfeld ran circles around this show. So did Cheers and Frasier.

This is absolutely true, but I don't shite on other people's opinions of things. I'll joke with them about it, but I ultimately respect whatever someone likes or dislikes.

Yea happens all the time. The worst is with how much they cut out of Scrubs.

Agreed. Frasier was unappreciated during its run. Which was the exact same as Friends.

Friends just has too many douchey characters.

it isn't edited badly, that's just nick at nite fitting in commercials...and the shitty local channels. tbs hits it right for the most part. look at the actual dvds. you'll see.
