i'm not against any of those things being present in the movies, and honestly, in the hands of a better writer / director, would have been pretty awesome. but for him to include all of those themes and scenes in the PT and then deflect criticism by throwing his hands up and saying "kids movies" just because jar jar made a poo poo joke is dishonest at best, if not outright cowardly.

It has nothing to do with Jar Jar. The original Star Wars (now episode IV: ANH) was at first given a G rating by the MPAA.

so it is your position and opinion that George Lucas wrote and directed the prequel trilogy deliberately as a children's story?

My take on Star Wars is keep the basic themes so we can just enjoy the movie. Is there a battle between Good and Evil? Do we get sweet landscape shots with multiple moons or planets? Does the Empire have sweet weaponry? Do we get a light saber fight? If those get checked off I can enjoy myself at the theater.

A New Hope was on AMC last night. I watched as much as I could until I fell asleep. (coincidentally Blue Harvest was showing on Cartoon Network at the same time). I'm 60.

Yep.
The great thing about Star Wars is that it was a story that appealed to all ages and demographics. It had a little something for everyone in it. Now people are trying to say it was always marketed exclusively at kids.

I'd offer the counter that Andor had practically none of that, and it was the best SW experience since Empire Strikes Back.

it's not a complaint. it's evidence against the idea that he designed, wrote, and directed the whole thing strictly with kids in mind

My problem isn't the politics, its how crappy the story was with the politics. It was just plain bad.

You can write a movie aimed at kids that is enjoyable for all ages.
Would you also argue Toy Story wasn't written for kids because it was enjoyable for all ages?
