I agree. It was great for me, but it was good. I'll never forgive them for the lies about The Mandarin. I guess they didn't want to overwhelming parallel TDKR, but whatever.
this is almost how i fwlt overall.. watching it for the 2nd time right now.. we'll see if anything changes my perception

The resolution was him walking away from it all.
Walking away from service doesn't stop the flashbacks from coming, but I get what you are saying.

as far as part threes in a superhero franchise goes...this is not as bad as spidey 3 but tdkr is much better imo.
as someone said earlier complete waste of ben kingsley.
loved guy pearce, but that guy is always great.
all in all the film felt like a bloated mess.
we were promised this would make up for iron man 2. just felt like more of the same imo.

**Spoiler**
how awesome would it be that the Mandarin truly is the Mandarin, and he fooled everyone into thinking he was an actor. i bet he shows up again in another movie, and surprises everyone.

i dunno. him blowing up the toilet pretty much made me think the actor things was for real. everyone knows serious villains don't shite on film.

I still think "blowing up" anything is considered a terrorist attack in my book.

Spoilers:
It seemed like we had two diff movies to me. The first w/ the mandarin. Which made everyone excited to see what would happen in the end with him. And all of the sudden someone seemed to change the script to be more politically correct. Because of a lot of the craziness goin on in real life. And just sorta made him look like a fool and not this bad arse villain.
And then we have a second plot that just dives in about someone else wanting revenge. Seemed very cliche. And don't get me started about the kid in the middle of the movie.
Overall the movie was entertaining in an Xmen 3 sort of way. Where you sort of find yourself asking that's it? Or what did I just see? By the end.

He was having anxiety because he thought that crap could happen again at any moment and he'd have to deal with it all over again. Him walking away meant it wasn't his problem to deal with a la Bruce running off Selina in TDKR.

I think you are reaching for an answer to something that was clearly not resolved.

Never got the hate for Iron Man 2. Was it The Godfather? No. Was it TDK? No. Was it a good, entertaining film? Hell yes.

I sure as hell hoped the steaming pile of alligator shite I just watched will turn out to be a dream...

I just don't get you people sometimes.

There have been, are, and will be truly shitty movies.
IM3 is NOT a shtty movie.
A lot of the people bitching about the film are either Marvel acolytes that don't like the Mandarin twist, or those that expected fricking Shakespeare and are disappointed they did not get it. Of course, as for the latter, Branaugh tried to give them that with Thor and they bitched anyway.
IM3 was completely consistent with the other 2 IM relative to Stark's "behavior". The lament about his anxiety attacks is misdirected - The Avengers are NOT there to help him and he's on his own. THAT (and Pepper) is why he's freaking.
The kid - do you NOT remember the fricked up relationship Tony had with his dad? Since Stark has no kids (at least in this universe), this is the closest they could get to showing him as anything resembling a father. While the effort was wanting (seemed more like a big brother), it was worth the shot.
IM
IM3
IM2
An entertaining and profitable trilogy. A studio, a star, and fans can ask for nothing more.

I agree, I found that pretty obvious. Maybe three helicopters won't completely destroy his life now.

I'm glad someone else realized this...I kinda thought this point was OBVIOUS.
There was an implied physical improvement to Tony...perhaps he'll be slightly more superhuman now?

I, honestly, was very disappointed. If I wanted to see an action film about a guy who builds contraptions to escape situations, I would have watched old episodes of McGyver. The fact that he was in the armor for only 15 minutes was very disappointing. That's what everyone went there to see! Would you want to see a Hulk movie where Bruce Banner solves his problems in human form without having to turn into the beast?? Hell no! HULK SMASH!!
Also, the ending was extremely similar to that of Lethal Weapon 4- two guys with a shoot out on a docked abandoned ship rescuing someone the audience doesn't really care about. I understand Shane Black's ties to the LW franchise, but that's pretty ridiculous. I was waiting for Cheadle to say, " I'm getting too old for this...".
I was pissed about the Mandarin like most of those who read the comics. However, that issue has been beat-to-death. I'm just confused why the fire-breathing didn't come into play, but once. Seems like something pretty cool that could have made it a little more fun. However, it was a nice change of pace to have a villain that wasn't wearing a metal suit.
It wasn't a horrible movie. It did a great job of explaining post-Avengers life for Tony. However, I believe that when you want to see a comic-based action movie, you should get what you paid for... Iron Man blowing shite up.
--Watching the Hulk Buster/Igor armor do nothing but hold up a platform was very very disappointing.

I actually thought this was very much like Iron Man 2. Very very meh. I don't even read the comics and know that the Mandarin is a bad fricker and they fricked that thing all up. I honestly thought it was Scary Movie 5 or 6 when they did that. And all of those suits getting their asses whooped? Man
It all felt very cliched, I think Joss Whedon saw a different film than what I saw. Guy Pearce was the only silver lining.

Has it been pointed out yet that Killian's origin was a blatant rip-off of The Riddler in Batman Forever?
Scraggly-haired scientist who fricks with people's brains is shunned by the billionaire protagonist, which inspires him to become a madman?
