I hate Sean Penn as a person and as an actor. I haven't liked a movie with him in it since Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I know that before this movie was released, Jack was the standard for how Joker should be portrayed. And I'm not a comic fan, but in light of Hamill's and Ledger's performances, that shouldn't be the case.

Hamill is the definitive joker but ledger's is a darth vader/wicked witch type role...it's just an iconic image

Nicholson was never a definitive performance for me. After BTAS came out, hamill was my favorite

I saw the animated series before I ever saw the film, so I never have really enjoyed Jack's performance. I just thought it was a silly actor, and nothing more.

Burton's Batman will always have a special place in my heart, but it's painful to go back and watch it and see how un-Batman it is.

My first movie ever and I still love it. It lacks everything Nolan's does, but has the one thing Nolan's is missing

Gotham looks great

Also the decision to make returns a noire film inspired the animated series

OK. All but one of your Joker examples were Jack's version, but since we've only had 2 on the big screen, you don't have much to pull from

A young Nicholson would've killed the role

I bought the blu ray and watched it with friends, and just the part where he has the batmobile run in to Axis Chemicals and drop that bomb pissed us all off.

"BATMAN DOESN'T KILL!!!"

You have to understand, no comic movie had ever looked that good, and they didn't have a lot of time to make it

Axis chemicals was filmed on the same set as the alien hive from aliens, fun movie fact.

that really is wild to go back and see.

i was never interested in the new batman movies and always just assumed ledger's praise for his performance was mainly bc of his passing and slightly exaggerated..

until i sat down and watched all the 3 batman movies and was blown away by the first one, then his role in the 2nd wow. his performance was valid for the praise. really great stuff. still hate that they had to replace rachel's. maggie gyllenhaal was horrific in the role. for the first time ever and only time ever.. i actually appreciated katie holmes in a role.

I think Maggie was a huge upgrade as an actress

I was fine with the casting, Ledger had just reached the Brando echelon with Brokeback. I wasn't crazy about the makeup when it was teased, however.

Better actress. Just a pig face, which ordinarily I could get over, but not this time.

She isn't as pretty, but she exuded the confidence the character needed. I believed she was a da

I felt like Katie Holmes was a stupid chick playing da

She is a two face, occasionally she is very pretty and in the next 2 seconds she is, yes, a pig face
