Should he have attempted to get off of the island without having the knowledge that he was free and clear of Helen Hunt?

He took a big chance there.

It was about surviving dude .... getting off the island wasn't about her.

At least that is the way I looked at it. He was tired of living alone and struggling to survive a daily existence.

Yeah, but he could have spent all that time and work and had Helen Hunt waiting on him when he got home.

Wasn't about her? He literally spent his nights staring at her picture.

Apparently he got island life down. He could've had a nice life there, built a car out of coconuts ala the Pofessor, maybe the Harlem Globtrotters would've shown up. Who knows? They were known to trot the globe.

He doesn't risk everything if he doesn't think Helen Hunt isn't waiting for him at home.

He does everything to get back to her and what does she do? Dumps him. She can't wait a few years like Civil War wives who remained faithful?

They had no body, nobody knew he was dead. Have a little faith and heart.

Yes, especially considering the outcome and the title being called Cast Away, vs

I upvoted. Apparently, some didn't get it. Maybe a Mark Richt reference would have helped.
