I've been watching this show on Netflix and I now have a favorite episode.
The "hero" of the show is this totally selfish dude who cares more about his getting high than his family of 6 (or more?) kids.
He was expecting a $121,000 payout for some insurance fraud. A policeman woke him up while he was passed out under a statue and was covered in pigeon excrement.
He went to his lawyer looking for the money and discovered that he had already been there the day before. She even showed him a photo on her camera because she expected him to have a total blackout...his behavior was so predictable.
He tried retracing his footsteps to find out what happened to his $121,000 because his combination of prescription drugs, excess alcohol, marijuana and crack and given him total amnesia..
First, he went to the bar where he discovered the bought the most expensive drinks on the house for everybody. But that still didn't explain where the money went. They told him about a Porsche. So he checked his pocket and found the key. Walked down the street and he found a Porsche, and the key fit.
His alcoholic friend woke up in the back seat and told him they went to a Chinese restaurant.
So then he went there and discovered there was a gambling den in the back. He figured, ah ha, that's how I lost the money. But no, the owner told him he doubled his money and walked out with $240,000.
He retraced his steps further and discovered 3 beautiful Chinese prostitutes waiting for him in an incredibly expensive hotel suite.
He found out he had invited a charity manager to the hotel room and had given his entire winnings toward a charitable cause...children's prosthetic limbs.
Ended up drinking his last thing of value an $2100 bottle of champagne with his 14 year old son who he was in the process of teaching how to deal drugs.
This show is great,really great.
What does it mean? Maybe deep down inside, Frank is not as selfish as he appears to be. Wait...LOL.

Why did you just waste the time to explain an entire episode of a show from a couple seasons ago?

That was a great episode.

It was one of the better ones.

I feel bad for Bill Macy with regard to Shameless. His character is drunk, latches on to an idea or person, and it's ruined because he's drunk and/or high. Rinse and repeat. For five seasons.
I watch the show because I've watched the show, but it doesn't seem to ever go anywhere except back to where it started: Fiona is the irresponsible responsible one, Lip is the smart frick up, Ian was likable but now he's just a fricking statue, Carl is a joke, Debbie fricking sucks, Liam is hilariously gone 90% of the time.
The neighbors have a problem with the bar. And then they find an odd, off-the-wall solution, but that solution runs its course and then they have a new problem. Rinse and repeat.
Some small deviations here and there, but overall it's a show that's been placed on a treadmill, running in place season after season.

The best one is the one where both Fiona and the chick from Rizzoli and Isles both get naked.

You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you? Perfect degenerate. His selfishness is matched only by his irresponsibility.
