Just finished
I found it was just simple to wait for sales and buy all holiday films on Amazon. Usually find them for 7 - 10 bucks, and I'm covered for all holidays.

If you can find it, the original plot was Russel was not going to be allowed to fly the F18, so he shows up at the pivotal moment with an AMRAAM literally ratchet strapped to his crop duster. It was filmed, CG and all.

I wonder if not long after the credits roll, the Whitmore Administration was like "aw frick I forgot we nuked Houston. Guess we should figure out what to do with that nuclear fallout in Texas."

I don't know why they didn't go after them with nukes after the shields went down.
They only had a few minutes, once they tested the shields were down, they should have rained fire.

True but to be fair, that ship came crashing down on top of the city. I doubt nuclear fallout is their first concern. What were the ships, give miles wide or something like that? That’s a lot of mess to clean up.
But yeah, the nuclear fallout will matter at some point.
