Call it blasphemy if you want...but I still believe Casino Royale (2006) was the best Bond film.

The bottom three Bond films for me are Die Another Day, Moonraker, and Octopussy.

The top three are Goldfinger, Goldeneye, and Casino Royale.

Moonraker and Spy that loved me are the best two of the series. I like the Roger Moore Bonds.

I watched the two Craig Bonds and came to the conclusion of why I do not like them as much as others: they are not really Bond films. They don't have the feel of Bond. In fact, they feel more like Bourne movies. Not saying they are bad, just that they do not feel like Bond movies. (Ok, QOS was pretty bad)

Having said all that, my favorites are (not the best, just my favorites): Licence to Kill, Living Daylights, Octopussy, TSWLM, and Goldeneye.

My Man with the Golden Gun DVD won't play anymore. Upset about that.

I like pretty much all the Bonds, just those are my favorites. Die Another Day and Quantum are the only ones I consider to be utter crap.

I got on a kick a few years ago & read all the Fleming books. Some of the books I liked better, some of the movies I thought were better. They can be slow at times but overall a fun read.

if you like Bond, then you will like this theory from Cracked. I cannot find the link but it's in the website somewhere.

In short they "theorize" that all the Bond's we've seen over the years are not the same person. It's not as if the same "bond" is being portrayed in every movie, just by a different actor. Each actor is a different person, just nicknamed "bond" by the organization. Hence all the other bonds are either dead or retired. Hence Bond is an ever on-going thing that could never die. It would also be possible to bring back older Bonds.

FOUND IT

I like that theory. Though not perfect, it explains the evolution of the Bond character through the years. The holes are that his background is pretty much the same - orphan, educated at Oxford, royal navy commander, widower, etc. It works for the books that were written after Fleming's death too. For example the Gardner books from the 80's have Bond driving a Saab & H&K as his gun of choice.

The one problem with this theory is that "For Your Eyes Only" opens with Roger Moore's Bond visiting the grave of his dead wife, and she died in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," which featured George Lazenby's Bond.

Not to mention that Connery came back to play Bond after Lazenby in "Diamonds Are Forever."

He also came back in the 80's to play Bond in that dumb Never Say Never Again movie.

That theory is idiotic and whoever came up with it needs to be shot.

Does each new "Bond" get trained in being a pimp and having impeccable taste and style? Didnt think so. Those things make Bond legendary; Fleming developed the hell out of Bonds tastes and traits and created a unique character, not some Jason Bourne-type to be assigned a name and replaced by another agent whenever a new actor came along

True, but that's not considered an "official" Bond movie.

You're right. Still Bond, still Sean Connery playing Bond, and they used to show it on those 13 days of 007 marathons that used to run.

Watching "A View to a Kill" now. Greatest Bond intro and song IMO.
