The film premieres on March 26 on Hulu.

Here is the main cast for the newest adaptation, based on a novel that was published in 1861:

Olivia Colman plays the role of the the eccentric and scheming Ms. Havisham.

Fionn Whitehead of Dunkirk fame will be portraying the main role of Pip, the indelible protagonist of Dickens's classic who is given a second chance at life by a mysterious benefactor.

And Shalom Brune-Franklin will be portraying the free spirited and narcissistic Estella, because....why the hell not?

It's self-parody at this point.

Do they have to interject a colored actor in every classic. I can understand fantasy shows because they are color agnostic, but a classic set in 19th century England. Are we trying to erase the fact that racism existed back then?

Haven't you heard? Christian Bale is set to play Nelson Mandela in the new biopic.

The issue seems to be we are supposed to believe western society was egregiously and uniquely racist. But we should all believe it makes sense to have a lot of diversity casting because those uniquely and egregiously racist societies were populated by a diversity of people in prominent positions

If slavery weren't invented until the evil British colonialist expansion, then how do our woke-arse overlords contend the pyramids in Egypt were built?

The pyramids were not constructed by slaves, according to most recent findings, but by Egyptian citizens. Because they were tombs for the pharaohs, they would have been contaminated had they been built by lowly slaves.
