Never thought I'd quit listening to Stern after 15 years but it became unbearable in 2021 when every single conversation reverted back to Covid, Trump, Republicans, or the South. Not funny, not fun.
The most interesting thing about Stern would be an inside look from the show staff and his family on what caused him to go into this steep decline.
It seems like he's realizing the radio industry is changing, he's approaching his 70's, his staff is leaving the show, and his legacy will be the story of his rise and fall.

This thread is crazy. I am 41 and barely know who Imus was. Y’all are obsessing over some douchebag talk show host who was popular 30 years ago. Let it go. Howard Sten is a has been for 20 years.
Fwiw his E! Show was the GOAT. Throwing lunch meat at strippers in g-strings was prime comedy for 15 years old me.

If you knew who Imus was and how much Howard hated him, you’d understand how epic and brutal of an insult that is to Howard. Sorry, Howard’s rise and fall is absolutely Shakespearean, and Imus is a big part of it. Listen to him back in 2007 ripping into Imus saying he’s too old at 67, a has been, and he should have quit on a high note rather than fizzle out. Howard is now 68 and has been a recluse in his basement for over two years right now.

You obviously weren’t that big of a fan of his if you don’t know who Imus was. He beat that dead horse constantly and openly wished for his death on several occasions.

The show is a trainwreck. It’s so awful but I can’t look away. It is quite amazing. They have the worst guests. Nothing is funny. Howard is an awful old man sounding curmudgeon. He bitches about his parents constantly, that is great radio. He fricks his supposed trophy wife with condoms at 68 years old. They spend time locked in the house with cats everywhere. It is just, I don’t even know what to say. And this is all aside from his whacked woke political crap.

Go listen to that clip I just posted above. Howard of 2007 is clearly talking about Howard of 2022, not Imus.

Does anyone else remember when they pretty much bullied Dana Plato on the air by having callers call her a pathetic druggie and whatnot? And the very next day she committed suicide. I think that is one of those things that Stern tries to keep buried from public attention.

Dr. Doom is absolutely a villain that deserves and warrants a D+ series to flesh him out. Obviously if Stern is really involved he’s not going to be that character.
