One thing this show has taught me: Robin is a fricking whore extraordinaire.

What I'm hoping this was is a device to allow Ted to prove he's finally over Robin. So next week at the wedding, Robin calls him into the room, and he can tell her confidently to go through with it and be happy about it. Thats the last hurdle Ted has to get over. If thats the end game, I'm okay with it.
I think that will be the case.

just watched the episode it was pretty bad but that has been par for the course the past few seasons. it did have a few chuckle moments for me I thought robin's dad was pretty good for the most part. the robin and ted ending made me go into a violent rage. barney definitely has the locket and he knows the robinese language as apparent from robin's dad saying nah it's stupid.
for those who think robin is the mother it is not possible unless the show wants to just say frick everything that has been done and said. it would be one of the worst moves in television history.

Wait! I've been under the impression that we will for sure see the mother this season. Is that wrong? Crap!!!
Its looking less and less likely to me.

Why in the hell does Ted have to prove hes over Robin ever 5 episodes. shite, he does it all the time and then they back track and say "oh wait he wasnt really over her"

Yep, no mother this season. Last episode of the season is next week and it is the night before the wedding. No wedding this season.
I got a feeling they are going to drag the wedding out for several episodes, possibly the entire first half of the season. That will really piss me off.

The show is called "How I met your mother". Not "I met your mother"
The show is about the journey...not the destination.

So, am I to assume Marshall and Lilly will be a minimal part of the last season because they are moving to Italy? They should have ended it this season.

This show was at its peak when Barney was single and Marshall and lily actually mattered. Now we have neither and the show is close to crap. I don't blame segal for wanting to leave the show now. I'm not sure there has ever been a more unfunny and annoying protagonist of a hit show that freaking schmosby. His only contribution is that he is a the target of jokes so he's funny to laugh at.

They better go slap bet crazy in the final season. Only way to save the show.

The playbook is the greatest thing the show has ever produced. The slap bet is incredible too though.

The episode (and series) begins in 2030 with an older Ted Mosby telling his children the story of how he met their mother. The story begins in 2005, with Ted's best friend and roommate Marshall Eriksen proposing to his girlfriend Lily Aldrin, prompting Ted to begin a search to find his own soulmate. At a pub called MacLaurens, alongside his friend Barney Stinson, Ted meets budding news anchor Robin Scherbatsky, with whom he is instantly smitten. Ted asks her out on a date, and the date is successful. The date concludes with Robin being called away for a news story.
Ted's friends tell him that he was supposed to kiss Robin before she left. Ted goes to Robin's house (“Suited up”, much to Barney's delight), with the company of Marshall, Lily and Barney. He stops at the restaurant of their first date and symbolically steals the blue French horn on the wall and continues on to Robin's apartment with the gang. Things are going great and they are about to kiss when Ted inexplicably tells Robin that he loves her, prematurely destroying his chances with her. After a lingering goodbye, and with the afterthought that he may or may not have missed “the signal” (missing out for the second time on his first kiss with her), Future Ted tells his children that is the story of how he met their aunt Robin.

I didnt think anybody in here actually think Robin and Ted end up together
Just disscussing how shitty it would be and that we wouldnt put it past the show to pull something like that

Have we ever seen Robin's sister? Tonight is the first time i think i have heard about her. When Robin's father said "And i kinda like Robins sister"
Im gonna throw a bone out and say that Ted marries Robin's sister. It would explain the "Aunt" Robin/"Uncle" Barney besides just good friends. If we havent ever seen her it would explain that Robin never had a relationship with her sister therefore not keeping up with her while in New York(being in Teds class, roomate to Rachel Bilson). She wanted to play in the band at her sisters wedding and would explain why she was there. Only thing it doesnt explain is why she was leaving the wedding early when Ted left.
ETA: nevermind. Robins sister is real young and was in season 2 with the kid from Malcolm in the middle or something.
