Give me Sopranos, Wire, Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under any day over GoT.

I've got to agree with the wire and breaking bad.

I like GoT and just started watching season 6. It it pretty damn good. Some of the acting from the people playing lessor roles is pretty bad though.

Watch it, the hype is not fake. It's the greatest achievement in television history from a set and scale standpoint. Season 6 last 2 episodes rivals any movie in recent memory and probably surpasses it. Start from ep1 and binge the hell out of it. Just stay away from this site, Google, Yahoo, YouTube, radio, podcasts, tv, and people in general, and you won't have anything spoiled.

It is an incredible show. In the beginning it might be a little confusing because of all the characters they throw at you and how they connect to the world. This show also isn't your stereotypical fantasy storyline where people are on a quest to stop the one main bad guy like harry potter and lord of the rings. It is a very complex story where each character has different motivations.

No reason to shite on a guy that clearly likes good television just because he's not into it.

There are plenty of things that I recognize (or accept) as being great that I have no interest in even trying.

And the penises too, right?!?

This is by far the greatest thing about GoT: LINK

If you decide to watch, watch them all before researching any spoilers. It makes the show so much better.

Agreed. I got behind and saw some spoilers for season six. Completely ruined the experience.

It's everything a great television show should be. From writing, to acting, to story telling, to production value. It feels like a motion picture being aired every week. What really helps the show is the fact it's one story set over 8 seasons. Where a show like the Walking Dead kind of trudges along with no sure ending to achieve, GOT is one story and every episode matters. It's also a show that works on many levels. It's enjoyable on a basic level for the casual viewer, while completely engrossing and compelling for the ardent fans who try to parse every word for hidden meanings and foreshadowing. Where most shows you wonder how the good guys will make it out of the situation, GOT you wonder if the good guys will make it out of the situation. It's not perfect, and it does have a few episodes that are forgettable, it's still much better than anything else on television.

It absorbed HBOs budget so HBO has canceled a plethora of shows deemed "too expensive" whole keeping GoT and Girls on the air.

I cannot wait for the cross over episode next season when Lena Dunham and her direwolf noses sit naked upon the iron throne

This is one of the facets that I find intriguing about the story potential. Thanks to everyone, I am looking forward to the journey.

i don't think it's one of the greats (haven't read the books) ... not even close ... it's a soap opera with swords ... but it's still very entertaining and there are some scenes/episodes that are up there with some of the best from other tv series ... being on hbo allows it to add some scenes that enhance its 'realism' ...

I started the show and books late. I got to binge the first 2 seasons while reading the books.

I'm jealous of someone like you that decides to watch and gets to binge 6 seasons in a row.

I love GOT

I hate when people tell others this. It undercuts the viewing experience. Let them be vulnerable and go through what everyone went through

Just like Lost, it has way too much unnecessary character development

You're complaint is that the characters are too deep and too developed? I've heard it all now
