How Gone Girl Should Have Ended (Spoilers Obviously)

SPOILERS
Finally watched Gone Girl last night. I know the movie is supposed to be about some psychotic bitch that completely ruins a bunch of people's lives. I thought it got a little over the top.
For one, her alibi had way too many holes in it. Her husband even had the pertinent question - "How'd she get ahold of a box cutter if she was tied up and being raped?" Not to mention that the FBI just saying "oh poor you" because she's a hot blonde isn't really believable. Maybe it is. I don't think so though.
Also, she claimed that she was bludgeoned in the head and the detectives determined that there was significant blood loss. Wouldn't there be a scar? Some kind of head trauma without a visit to the ER?
I guess it just got a bit ridiculous towards the end in trying to establish her as queen psycho bitch and trapping Ben Affleck's character in a life of misery with her.
It should have ended like this, which would have been lame but at least the potential for something better:
- The whole thing was a plan concocted by them both. They were in financial hardships. She had lost her trust fund. They had lost their jobs. They had a very comfortable, happy life ruined by other people (so they could have argued). So they go through this whole stunt to get money. Could have been an elaborate con of the obsessive Dougie Howser or something else.

I agree with some of that. Her story had so many holes in it, I find it laughable that the cops/feds didn't arrest her within 24 hours.
That said, my wife says the book did a much better job explaining her plan and how she got away with it, but I haven't read it so I don't know.

I just wish it would have ended with her being shot in the head.

I think that her story had a lot of holes is supposed to be the point of the satire element of the movie. It's an exaggeration of how the public makes emotional responses with conviction to things they don't really understand. The exaggeration is just how the satire works within the universe where the movie takes place. You just have to suspend your disbelief to allow the movie to tell the story and make the point that it wants.

It's based off of a book. The storyline followed the book very closely.
The entire thing is mocking a number of societal issues (Ex: The Bar becoming popular once the owner was a prime suspect.) which I think it does very well.
Her story had holes. Who cares? It wasn't as apparent in the book. The ending was different and original unlike most stories of its type.

It should have ended with Ben Affleck killing his psycho bitch wife

I was just about to say. You can tell the people who didn't read the book and expecting some extremely different ending.

No doubt. The ending is absolutely unsettling when you read it in the book.
I wouldn't have minded an ending where she ends up dead somehow though.

you seem to think that IRL law enforcement don't also happily lap up easy solutions to their cases.
her case would be wrapped up with a happy bow and the only people questioning what really happened would be internet conspiracy types.

This
The story is definitely about a psycho bitch ruining people, but it's also very much about how the media controls peoples decisions on such cases and how they choose the narrative regardless of other evidence available
