I remember watching a movie when I was younger, probably mid-late 80’s, and I’m sorry that i don’t have more detail, but the premise was about:

A pilot(?) or some type of “guy” gets afflicted/targeted by something (lightning I think?) that randomly teleports him back to WWII at different periods and he fights a German “Red Baron type” at the end... all the while he’s jumping back and forth between his time and the past at what could only be construed as very inopportune times during his day... ie he’s driving to work in his time and then he’s driving a Jeep through the fields of N. France, etc.

I’m sorry that I’m not giving you much to go on here guys and I realize it’s a long shot, but thought you guys might be able to help.

TIA

So, we can elminate a couple right off the top -

The Final Countdown (Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen about the USS Nimitz going back in time to December 6th, 1941)

The Philadelphia Experiment (another Navy film about time travel).

Based on your description - my best guess is:

Biggles: Adventure in Time (1986)

(ETA: This is WWI, primarily, but seems pretty close to content and age for your description.)

Sounds like the British flick. Never saw it, but neither The Final Countdown or The Philadelphia Experiment match that storyline.

Red Baron is WW1, not WW2, but again, never saw the movie.

WWI actually makes more sense. As a kid the WW movies all kind of looked the same.

Never heard of that movie.

Was a teenager in 1986 and definitely would have wanted to see it then.

I actually want to watch it now.

Certainly does have a Doctor Who vibe to it.

From Wiki -

quote:

James Bigglesworth, nicknamed "Biggles", is a fictional pilot and adventurer, the title character and hero of the Biggles series of adventure books, written for young readers by W. E. Johns (1893–1968). Biggles made his first appearance in the story * The White Fokker, published in the first issue of Popular Flying magazine and again as part of the first collection of Biggles stories, The Camels Are Coming (both 1932). Johns continued to write "Biggles books" until his death in 1968. The series eventually included nearly a hundred volumes – novels as well as short story collections – most of the latter with a common setting and time
