Series is set in early 70's New York near Times Square. Storylines range from prostitution, porn, mafia to law enforcement. While the production value is top shelf, the plots and writing are a little uneven. Still, it's a series that shows a lot of promise.

I binged it recently. I really enjoyed it. Very reminiscent of The Wire and I wasn’t surprised to see David Simon is a creator. You know a show is good when they can force you to see Maggie Gyllenhal naked 10% of each episode and you continue to watch.

Couldn’t make it through the fourth episode. Too slow for me.

Is this the one with James Franco and the Maggie chick about being in the porn industry?

Tried. Failed. Just a bore. IMO

Tried and gave up. Too explicit on the sex stuff. Very depressing to me. And some scenes I just couldn’t watch.

My thoughts exactly. It wasn’t fun at all to watch.

i often thought that it was pretty choppy, like they wanted to go one direction and with an arc or a character, then 180 degrees.

the show is solid, the characters/stories are so hard not to get attached to.

heartbreaking lifestyle.

Well done show and I think Season 2 will allow them to go deeper.

Yep I watched Season 1 and thought it was pretty good. I feel like a lot of the first season was exposition and setting things up for the future.
