It's not ironic at all. We see over and over again that people very commonly become what they hate.

Diversity Day is the only episode I can think of offhand that might be problematic to make now. And maybe the episode that Michael outs and kisses Oscar.

The casting would be different is the main thing. The Office was diverse already but probably not diverse enough esp since the main characters—Michael Jim Dwight and Pam—were all white.

So yeah they could make a new Office and it could still be good and I’d definitely give it a shot. Not high hopes of recreating the original magic but that’s a tall order.

This thread went off the rails with the quickness.

I'm not sure we asked for an Office-verse spinoff, however, Daniels has been a part of some really good shows. I'd rather see how it goes instead of the preemptive triggering happening here.

And Michael trying to find out who the felon was among the transfers from Stamford branch and automatically assuming (though correctly) that it was the one black guy wouldn’t fly today.

Point of these episodes is that Michael is an idiot, plenty of adult cartoons still air and are far more offensive and edgy.

Is it going to be like how Wings and Cheers (and Frasier) were in the same universe?

Why not a continuation with some of the old cast?
