Breaking bad was hit or miss.

ANY episode that overly involved walter's wife and family was generally garbage.

Try "the patriot" on amazon. Great dry comedy. Reminiscent of something wes anderson might do.

No particular order, here are some good recent series..

Ozark
Narcos
Killing eve

There’s a world of difference between “very entertaining” and “greatest all time drama series”. while breaking bad isn’t the greatest for me, it’s definitely worthy of being in the conversation. Justified is a fine show, and I enjoyed it...and I’ll leave it at that.

For most people, yeah. I’m simply saying some people REALLY love Justified. I’m not sure what’s so difficult to understand.

It seems to be the general consensus that these shows are in the conversation, and I wouldn’t call someone an idiot who believed one of these to be the GOAT:

Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
The Wire
Lost
Sopranos
Mad Men
The West Wing

My big 4 are: The Shield, The Wire, The Sopranos and Breaking Bad, in no particular order.

Game of Thrones
Last Kingdom
Vikings
Spartacus, although it suffered from the actor’s death

I hated Skylar White but when I think about, I didn’t really like any of the characters. Hank was about the only decent guy. Jesse had some humorous moments.

BB was fantastic in every technical way but I didn’t enjoy it as much as most people do. I’ll never rewatch it.

Hilarious that you folks think that great dramas began with the Sopranos.

It's a toss up between:

James at 15 and James at 16

It's true that comparing older "episodic" shows (and I'm not denying that Hill Street Blues, for example, was a great, great show - clearly it was) with modern, threaded dramas is tough.

Likewise for the fantasy/sci-fi shows which are also horses of different colors. Just taking things like Star Trek, Star Trek:DS9, Babylon 5, TNG, etc. - while great shows, it is difficult to compare them to the modern drama Renaissance that more or less began with HBO and The Wire/The Sopranos around 20 years ago.

Frankly, for my money, I hold the somewhat conflicting opinions that The Sopranos is both overrated AND one of the greatest dramas of all time. Folks who are huge fans of it have difficulties seeing some of its flaws. But Gandolfini delivers one of the best characters of all time - film, television, novels, etc., so that makes up for them to a large degree.

50's and 60's: Naked City
60's: The Fugitive
70's: Columbo, Rockford Files
60's, 70's, 80's: Hawaii Five-O
80's: Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere
90's: Twin Peaks, NYPD Blue, Law & Order

I'd watch all of those before West Wing.
