c'mon man...
GRRM backed the show into a corner with jon dying 3/4 through the story. there was literally no other way this could have gone unless they just deleted the taking of winterfell altogether. this whole season has been about re-calibrating the story to that single event
i dont think its ant coincidence that he's having trouble now finishingthe books. only the most obvious resolutions make even a lick of sense now
Jon absolutely had to die-- 1) To learn a lesson 2) To come back and show a fulfillment of prophecy 3) To get him out of the Watch without breaking his oath.

No way Jon ends up the throne, the last thing they need is a know-nothing king.
He knows where to put it, which will be invaluable in creating an heir.

Would have been so fricking cool if when small Jon Umber was screaming who owns the north, his people said Stark and starting butt raping Ramsey's circle line from the rear.
I was actually hoping that was going to happen when he was shouting it.

Interesting parallel
Really plays up both the similarities (they're the two clearest savior figures) and the differences (Dany exudes in this, she thinks conquering, liberating and ruling are her destiny, Jon has never wanted this but its being thrust upon him-- basically the only time in the books that he seems to both sense he has a destiny and want to claim it are in his conversations with Tyrion) .

And even if they did have Robb's decree, and if they allow Jon take it, then they might as well send a raven to King's Landing telling them to kiss their asses, and come and get them, because the crown won't be pleased with the bastard son of traitor Ned retaking the North one bit.
Oh if KL gets calmed down and they start hearing about Jon its not just the Lannisters who will try and kill him, OMLandshark has been harping on this and he's right-- lay out Jon's resume and he starts to look like a pretty massive threat who needs to be dealt with before the little folk start to gather around a hero.

Jon/Sansa/LF-I think Sansa and LF probably get married. Jon being the honorable person he is, knows he owes LF some gratitude for saving them and will agree to LF being the Warden of the North. Jon knows in the grand scheme of things, the WW army DGAF about who is a king/warden/knight/etc. I can also see Jon telling Sansa, you make this decision for yourself if you want to marry him. You are an adult now and I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do.
If I'm LF that makes me even more suspicious-- a Stark bastard not wanting the North? I mean there's honorable (Ned) and then there's that.

Question, when Dany and Jon meet, because they damn near have to, how do y'all see that going?
Depends how down with incest among good guys HBO is, because the "lords kiss" not being involved would be an upset.
If they fight I want to see Ghost leveled up and taking out Drogon. Jump on his back and just going Dire Wolf. Nymeria and her pack can take the others-- I don't care how realistic it is, we've had Dragons for 6 seasons it'd be time for the Dire Wolves to do work. (Besides which Ghost doesn't seem like a normal Dire Wolf even beyond Warging-- he's bigger and smarter than the others).

Isn't Rickon around 6 years old in the books? I would absolutely ride out to try and save my sisters or one of my nieces or nephews. I understand that it doesn't make military sense, but at that point it's an impulse. By the time he reached Rickon, he was already in range of Bolton archers; either try to run backwards under a hail of arrows, or charge forward into the fray. Either way, you're probably going to die. Unless you're Jon Stark-Targaryen.

So Jon has killed
A wight
Qhorin Half-hand
Orell
The leader of the Thenns and others at the battle of castle black
Zombies at Hardhome
A White Walker Lieutenant
25 Bolton soldiers
am I missing anyone?

For all the people know, Jon planned that from the start. And I truly believe that Jon has no aims at any throne.
But the one thing Jon wants more than anything is to be a Stark, partly because Cat was such a raging bitch and reminded him at every turn throughout his entire life that was NOT a Stark. I don't think he would necessarily try to "take" Winterfell from Sansa, but if he was legitimized and people hailed him as Lord Stark or King in the North, I don't think he'd be exactly upset, either. Just another way in which Cat fricked everything up for everyone.
Stannis offered to legitamize him and make him King of the North and he turned him down. I think he's beyond desire for legitamcy or power which makes him even more dangerous-- he's also the only person besides Book Varys and Show Tyrion who seems to care about the Little Folk in more than an abstract sense (Dany cares, but in the way a college freshman "cares about Africa")

I think one or both of two things before anyone really does anything about Jon. One is Cersei firebombing the shite out of KL, throwing the remaining kingdoms back into chaos. Two Danny shows back up and starts fricking shite up.
Regardless of how threatening Jon seems to be Danny is a bigger threat by an order of magnitude.
Overall I'm not super upset with the women coming to power thing because it feels somewhat realistic. Westeros has been in so many wars dating back to Robert's rebellion that there essentially aren't any competent men left in the kingdom.
As long as they don't turn this into some kind of "women are better rulers" thing, I think it will be ok. It demonstrates the tragic impact of war Ina populace particularly the male populace. Cersei is good point for them not turning this into the messianic female ruler trope since she is an idiotic psycho.
Overall I think by the time the Others are defeated there won't be a ruler of Westeros. There will be no infrastructure left to create a kingdom that big, no one will have an army large enough to project power across so much territory, and everyone will be focused on collecting enough food to survive.
I'd be ok with various people ruling different fractured kingdoms.

Didn't he kill that Wildling who could warg into that haek or eagle or whatever that wanted Jons ginger haired slampiece?
I think that's when Bran first warged into Hodor. Hard to remember everything from season...2?

I imagine a great romance that will end in great tragedy.
This. Look at the Legend of Azhor Azhai-- Jon is going to have to kill Dany-- probably because she wants to do something crazy like burn everyone. Its his theme-- he either watches or brings about the death of everyone he loves, and ends up with what everyone but he himself wants more than anything (the Throne) while hating how worthless it is to himself.

If Wun Wun would have had a little armor and a big arse sword, hell even a tree trunk, he would have been unstoppable.
He was swinging a post around at Hardhome and wiping out the zombies. Yet no one apparently thought to do that at this battle.
Sometimes the show makes one suspend too much belief.
Wun Wun is like the Dragons only worse-- if you use him you lose any and all suspense-- Give him Armor and a bow (like the giant at the Wall) and he's basically unstoppable:
Wun Wun vs. Dragons-- Bow Shots have more range than fire
Wun Wun vs. Robert Strong-- Wun Wun flicks his head off and laughs about it
Wun Wun vs. Castle-- Well unarmored and with 4 dozen arrow and a half dozen lances in him he punches down the gate of one of the few castles which has never been taken by force in Westeros.

or just grab one of the big shields and start beating people with it
or a horse
or a person or 2
Oh god-- Wun Wun throwing the pile of dead people like a kid with snowballs-- it'd be amazingly gross and super effective (actually kind of impressed that the Phalanx didn't break when someone kept grabbing people and tearing them in half-- I don't care how disciplined you are none of these men had any reason to believe giants are real and then boom.

Wun Wun I believe was the last of the giants.

Gross.
Women in this show/series have been proven to be rash, idiotic leaders. Especially when you think of men that came before them...Tywin, Greyjoy Sr, Martell, Ned...
Yara seems decent, Margery could be smart but goddamn Dany makes more mistakes in the average 3 episode stretch than the Starks as a family have committed in the course of the show, she just gets away with due to Dragons and Luck-- people want to say Jon got lucky to survive the battle-- How about Dany not getting hit by an arrow anywhere past say episode 15. Ned was an idiot but he didn't abandon a city and fly away or liberate a bunch of people without any plan to feed them, she's a naive child and her "grown up" response last episode was to go Mad King until Tyrion shouted her down.
