It's a small thing, but I was even kinda disappointed at the turn around at the bear pit. I thought in the books Jamie got the upper hand because the guys that were bringing him to King's Landing outnumbered and outgunned (or out crossbowed) the people who wanted to see the bear eat Brienne.
Here they just used Jamie's calling upon his father's name (and Roose's name in connection with his father). Just seems they kinda beat that one into the ground a bit.
Otherwise:
The Theon scene was appropriately horrifying. Hopefully he got at least some joy out of the part with the girls because don't look like he's gonna be engaging in it much anymore.
Kind of an interesting parallel that Theon and Rob were both done in by the power of the V. Only Jon can seem to turn the tables in that regard. Poor Ygritte. And Tyrion in a way. But that's a long way off yet.

Yeah Robb is interesting character in this regard. Clearly the difference between Robb and Jon is Robb thinking he can have everything-I guess that's his mother in him. Other than that they are very similar characters.
I think one of the biggest differences in the books and the show is Robb. To me (who started reading the books after watching the show), Robb is presented as the dual protagnist in the show (along with Jon) since Ned was murdered.

Where is Hugo? Has he posted at all in this thread yet?

I've always thought Jamie was a fricking sorry scumbag after what he did to the Stark kid, but he's grown on me a little bit in the last few episodes. I'm sure there's some ulterior motive for why he's been helping Brianne out though.
Damn, I was thinking they would all trust Jaime by this point and be one of their favorite characters. I don't see what ulterior motive Jaime would have to jump in a god damn bear pit.
I think maybe the reason for it is leaving out the dream sequence. It was incredibly clear with the dream sequence why Jaime was there, but maybe not quite as clear here for the non-reader.

I forget what this dream sequence is. Can anyone provide a brief overview? I'm rereading ASOS right now, but I haven't gotten to this part yet and I can't remember it.

That night, Jaime has a dream that Tywin and Cersei abandon him and Brienne in the bowels of Casterly Rock where he faces the shades of Rhaegar and his brothers on the Kingsguard. The next day, Jaime asks Qyburn if he believes in ghosts, to which the man replies that he does believe a portion of the soul remains when a person dies, though none of the archmaesters cared much for his theories save Marwyn.

I didn't start liking Jaime until book 4
I hated him less in book 3

I know its 2 eps away, but I cannot stop thinking how they are going to portray the RR.
Even for HBO the level of violence and despair will/should be unparalleled

Basically Jaime is forced down into a flooded basement with a naked Brienne by his father, sister, Joffrey, and numerous others. Once there Rhaegar and his former Kingsguard confronts him about killing his father and failing to save his children.

I really doubt the dream sequence would have made a difference. The main reason readers like Jaime in ASOS so quickly is we can see everything from his point of view and see how he changes and how he is sincere in that change.
Also, in the show Jaime is much more of a douchebag pre-handchoppage. They had him kill his own relative that looked up to him just to try and save his own skin in season two. In the books the only really unjustifiable thing Jaime did from a moral standpoint was throwing Bran off the roof, and at least he had the motive of protecting his sister and kids.
The killing of his cousin in season 2 in the show is just a pretty low move for a show watcher only to overlook. A show watcher is going to have serious doubts about Jaime's motives because of that one act.

"How many men have you killed?"
"Countless."
"How many lives have you saved?"
"Half a million. Population of King's Landing"
