That's what I thought, I was just unsure
So how spoilerly is this thread exactly? Apparently I might know too much to stay in the Hodor thread because I know the background info about Roberts rebellion

Thanks, but they can only be legitimized by the father, correct? For example, after Robert died, who would have been able to legitimize his bastards?

It's safer than the Hodor thread, that's for damn sure.

the rules
quote:
******Mild Spoilers Possible******
Nonreaders: You may ask questions of the book readers in this thread pertaining to what is occurring on the show. More sensitive nonreaders who wish to avoid even the mention of the books should not be in this thread.
Readers: Please answer any questions directly without giving away information which would constitute a significant spoiler. Comparison of events in the show to the books is allowed, but keep any discussion or speculation regarding future events in the book readers thread.
Partial Book Readers: If you have read some, but not all of the books, this is the thread for you.
If something is posted which is a borderline spoiler and someone asks you to edit, just be courteous and edit it. No need for the epic bitchfests which have occurred in the past. Blatant spoilers will be RA'd if you won't edit them yourself.

Sounds a lot more comfortable in here
Looks like I'm a middle grounder

A king can. Stannis or Joeffery could have legitimized them.

I think a lord can too. Roose Bolton is both a lord and the Warden of the North and seemed to have the authority to legitimize Ramsay.

That's because he was his father, Lord Tulley can't legitimized the Red Viper's bastards.

The Martells aren't Tully bannermen. As Warden of the North, I think Roose has the ability to legitimize any northerner. In this case, Ramsay just also happened to be his son.

That hodor thread slap fight is hilarious
If they're all willing to argue and read these short novels being posted back and forth ... why not just read the books .
When I found myself wiki-ing stuff about jons parents..that's when I decided it was time to just read for myself. The lore and back story is so well done. The show is good and all for sure, but leaves a ton out.

I think that decree came from Joffrey or Tommen, and Roose was basically just holding that as leverage over him until he got him Moat Cailyn.

I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't 100% positive. I looked it up-
Bastards can only inherit if recognized by their fathers and their are no trueborn heirs or likely kin to follow. Additionally, a bastard can inherit if he is legitimized by a royal decree.
Also if both parents of a bastard are noble then the child is not considered "baseborn."

Posted on 6/17/14 at 12:36 pm to iluvdatiger
yeah and i want to say something about all the theories you LOVE that KASH is throwing out there but idk if i can
Posted on 6/17/14 at 12:38 pm to Byron Bojangles III
You can't tell me who Jon's parents are, but otherwise go ahead.
Posted on 6/17/14 at 12:38 pm to Byron Bojangles III
Alright I'll ask this here
Is kash a semi book reader or something? He obviously knows more than most in the Hodor thread he try's to act like but he says some of the dumbest shite at the same time.

i've suspected. like he said Robert and Cersi got married to kill the king. no they didn't they got married after Robert killed Rhegar and Jaime killed Aerys

No, We're actually laughing at Cash's ridiculous theories in the Reader thread. It seems as if he's trying to troll the readers and non-readers simultaneously.

Plus Jon was long born by the time Robert and Cersei even met each other.

he has a fruitful imagination
none of the stuff he's saying adds up timeline wise. also only 3 people know who Jons mom is for SURE and thats Martin and D&D
