2 Part documentary. Just started it. Looks to be good.

Finished it and like it. The first part didn't really have much I didn't know but the second focused more on the synthetic shares and naked shorts issue which I found more interesting since while I was aware of it I didn't know that much.

Sounds kinky.
No, I know what you are talking about. I'm looking forward to seeing this documentary sometime this weekend. When I studied finance it always struck me how dangerous these types of financial plays are... you can lose a lot of money in a very short period of time. Granted when I studied finance it was back in the days of "Ugg trade rock for stick" and we hadn't invented fire yet.

The idea there are 100,000s of completely counterfeit shares of stock moving around the market being bought and sold is beyond disturbing. The bad actors not being some computer nerd in a basement but the largest institutions makes me queasy. What am I gonna do though? Put my money in CDs?

Thanks for the heads up. I love these kind of documentaries.

check out Betting on Zero. Its a documentary about when Ackman tried to short Herbalife via congressional investigations. Ended up turning into a pissing contest between billionaires, highly recommend.

This one's aight. I kept up with WallStreetBets during all of this. I think they're bonkers.
If you like stuff like this, I always recommend "The Smartest Guys In The Room." It's about Enron.
The book is equally excellent. Yeah, it's an older topic but still very good.

Second episode should be required viewing for high school and college kids. If the financial game ever seems simple, you’re the one being played.
