This is what i was thinking.. That since he died; technically he fulfilled his vows and is no longer bound by them.
And also to whoever asked about breaking his vows with the red head; I think Sam found that loophole of just saying they would never marry or father children but it didn't expressesly say they couldn't get down.

quote:The exact opposite is more likely. The Watch serves until they die. If Jon dies, his service is over, so he can't be an oathbreaker.
You could argue that once his brothers give him his "and now his watch has ended" and then he gets revived afterwards, his oath is broken
quote:Jon decides to leave the Watch to go fight Ramsay, thereby breaking his oath. That's why they kill him. On the show, he just makes a decision that the others don't agree with.
refresh me on the oathbreaker in the books, it has been a minute.

You are speculating LSH from Oathbreaker? That could easily be about Jon or Jamie as well. I wouldnt jump to conclusions about that.
It is about every character the episode chooses to focus on. The episode titles are symbolic for each and every character.

I'm sure some, possibly even Jon himself, would still consider that oathbreaking seeing as it hasn't happened before
We're esstenrially making the same argument, except in mine "Oathbreaker" is the more dramatic term used

How did "The moutain vs the Viper" relate to everyone in that episode?

I hope that little shite Olly gets Bran Starked right off the top of the wall.

I watch a video on the possibility of Tyrion being a secret Targaryen. It gave the scenario that the Mad King forced himself on Joanna Lannister (Tyrion's mother) and Tyrion is their son. I had heard of this before but didn't look into it much be the evidence can be pretty convincing. Anyone think this is legitimate?
Sorry if it was discussed earlier but I wasn't looking through 50 pages of comments to see.

I choose to believe this is false because the best thing about Tyrion was that he was Tywin's smartest son and the most like him. It made Tywin resent Tyrion even more.

There's a few people on here with a personal vendetta against that theory

its been discussed at the crackpot thread a 1000x. I hate this theory. Like I really hate it. Tyrion and Tywin were the same person minus a few feet. Tyrion being a targ ruins that entire relationship and makes Tywin looks like a kinda decent dude for taking him in. Instead of a father who had his men gang rape his son's wife, and put said son a position to die.
There would be so much "who is the real parents?" going on in this series if he does this.
Basically would make it a Nature vs Nurture philosophical study.

One of the big contentions of the theory was that Tywin's last words were "You are no son of mine". I guess with too much time in between seasons people can find bits a pieces of evidence to fit any idea.

Apologies, I am late to the SPOILER PARTY

Tywin would have just had Tyrion killed if that was the case. Tyrion was a sick boy, no one would have noticed.
Tywin did put Tyrion and his mountain men in a position of failure, I seriously doubt that he would have any problem killing his fake son.
The "no son of mine" line is more that Tywin was never going to have a kid that lived up to his standards.

Wait, he didn't give the speach in the hall on the show? I need to go back and re-watch......
He didn't tell them he was going south?

Nope. They killed him on the show because he brought the Wildlings over. He hasn't received the pink letter yet on the show.

I have to say, I just think it makes more sense in the show.
In both the books and show, the Night's Watch was obviously unhappy with the decision, and "For the Watch" implies that they were doing it for the safety and security of the Night's Watch. Based on that, and the fact that it was a bunch of people who stabbed him, a planned assassination makes a lot of sense.
In the books, it was basically, "He's going to break his oath, everybody pull out your concealed oathbreaker daggers and lynch him!"

so in the books they just kill him for breaking his oath? also, doesnt him leaving to march south seem out of character for Jon?

What is Jon supposed to do at the Wall after Resurrection? Still be cool with the Night's Watch 'brethren' who just killed him?
Winter Is Coming so I'm thinking Jon, Davos, etc. head for Winterfell and then we'll have the Battle of the Bastards.
