So as of the end of Season 1 we're looking at:

- Robb Stark "King of the North" in full fledged war with the Lannisters and others loyal to the crown. He has Jaime Lannister captive. After losing his skirmish to Robb, Tywin Lannister has sent Tyrion to King's Landing because Joffrey has lost his shite and Ceresi has lost control.


- Ned Stark is a head shorter. Sansa Stark is ready to push King Joffrey off a ledge and is getting smacked around in the midst. Arya Stark is headed to the Wall disguised as a boy with a rather motley crew including Yoren recruiting for the Night's Watch and Gendry, Robert Baratheon's bastard son.

- Renly Baratheon has left King's Landing and is rallying the troops to his cause after trying to talk Ned Stark in promoting him as the legitimate heir to the Iron Throne.

- Jon Snow is out beyond the Wall with several other members of the Night's Watch hoping to bring the fight to the Wildlings instead of vice versa.

- Daenerys Targaryen "Khaleesi", her dragons, and her loyal followers headed by Jorah Mormont are trying to find their own way after the death of Khal Drogo.

Anything else?

That just about sums it up.
