She has wolf dreams because Nymeria is still alive doing work in the river lands, but they don't give a fckk about that in the show so far.

Is the Blackfish a homo? I know he never married, but I thought it was just because he was such a playa.

Its the reason I feel that is taken away from her. Show wise.

The show doesn't call out any wargs.

martin on gay characters in ASOIAF. I don't recall if Blackfish had any chapters from his viewpoint.

quote:

I do have gay characters. That was something that was very important to me to do when I began this series back in 1991 because at that time, there were very few gay characters in epic fantasy and I wanted to reflect that segment of the population. You know, gay people enjoy epic fantasy too and gay people are an important part of our world and any imaginary fantasy worlds. So I include some pretty important, and I think, heroic gay characters but they weren’t viewpoint characters and since I use a strict third-person viewpoint structure, the gay sex scenes took place off-stage. But who knows if that’ll be true for the last two books. We’ll have to see where the story leads me.

eta: also found these points on another discussion forum just now:

quote:

Concerning Brynden Tully:

1. For some reason he has refused to marry a woman.

This is remarkable because his brother and lord more or less ordered him to -- which then caused a major fallout between the brothers when Brynden refused to marry although he was even allowed to pick his own bride.

It also led Hoster to term Brynden the black sheep of the family and to disinherit him.

2. Cat remarks that Brynden will *never* marry.

I think these are the two major points which suggest that Brynden might be gay.

I'm not saying he is or isn't gay. Being gay would in no way preclude him from being a total badass, which he is. But there's a reason I'm not the first to think this about him. Plus, it gives us a path by which the Lannisters can be crushed in the South while Jon and Dany focus on the real threat in the North.

I'm just saying you can imagine The Blackfish playing butt Nintendo with Loras while I imagine him being a warrior and smashing broads. Since there isn't any definitive proof to either we both win.

could we make a trade, I think the guy that cries over spoilers weekly (when it's usually talk of a preview or plot synopsis from TV guide) needs to be traded for SFP who actually can have intelligent conversation.

Be careful what you wish for, SFP is insufferable about shows he's into

I'm glad he's chosen to Lord book knowledge over the hodors instead of the big leagues. We would never get anything done around here

Didn't stop this guy.

His gayness is the key to defeating the Lannisters?

is there some sort of foreshadowing or hinting at something going on with LF giving Robin a Falcon?

It showed the extent of LF's manipulation. He knows he is rolling up to Royce and Robin and that Royce is going to come at him about Sansa. So he gives his little lord a present and then asks his little lord to agree with him when he turns it on Royce.

I thought it meant that if Shireen weighed the same as a duck than she was made of wood and therefore a witch and therefore burning her was o.k.

I like the show - I was a Hodor before I read the books. But, surely you don't suggest the show is beyond criticism, do you? Dorne alone is worthy of mountains of scorn.
